Yeah, any idea which London airport they are flying from?

It would have to be LGW, as Bermuda II would forbid them from operating out of LHR, right? Judging by the route map, this looks like a U.S. based airline. This is the first I’m hearing of this.

I flew business class on Singapore 2 years ago on the ultimo seat, and that was outstanding. in 2 months I’m flying them again JFK-FRA in business, but this time it’s a Spacebed. We’ll see how much better this is than the ultimo seat (which was bigger and better in the 772ER than in was in th 744, by the way). I’ve seen Virgin’s new upper class seat. It has a little table on it, and you could sit and eat with someone sitting face to face.

First of all, CALM down. I was asking a question, not arguing. People ask questions on this web site and if I have a valid response I will post it.

I was calm the entire time! I was not arguing either, just stating my opinion.

As you say you think it should be used on a prestigious route, I agree it will, but my opinion is that it will after a short duration of short sectors for crew training.

    That’s fair enough.

An airlines priority is to train the crew and get them familiar with the aircraft not send it off on a prestigious sectors. Saftey is the name of the game in the aviation industry.

Thanks for filling me in brotha.’ Next time you’re in LAX, let me know, and I’ll buy you a beer. 😉

On the other hand Airbaus could also use such engines. PW seems eager to develop their turned down engine proposal for the 7E7 to fit on a new version of the 330.

    Now that’s what I’m talkin’ about! 🙂

Do you know which airliners and routes they first flew? They all do long haul flying but for the frist month or so into service I would bet on crew training on short routes. I would be very suprised if they went straight onto long haul operations.

Yes, I do know, in fact, they are listed in my first post which was the thread starter. Look Skycruiser, I don’t work for an airline, you do. I’m not arguing with you, I’m just trying to make a point, based upon historical data. For instance, the 747’s first route by Pan Am was not JFK-MIA or some other short segment, if was JFK-LHR (or the other direction). I know size has nothing to do with ‘it.’ All I’m saying, is that an aircraft as revolutionary, and as mammoth as the A380 is (much like the 747 was 35 years ago) should be deployed on a very prestigious long haul route, a la JFK-LHR like the 747 did in 1970.

That’s a pretty big difference! Interesting how you can do comparisons with models.

a flight from Miami to London… doesn;t sound like the flight one would get to connect with a cruiseliner, usualy it’s the other war round, London to Miami

    That too. 😮
Perhaps they wanted to board the QM2 and sail back to Miami. 😀

Anyone know anything about Pullmantur? I know they do ATH-JNB on behalf of Olympic (why they can’t fly there on their own with their PARKED A340’s, I have no idea!) but, where are they based?

I checked up the registration of that AA on a.net, it’s an ex-Reno Air MD-87. It’s currently with Aeromexico, with the same registration (N753RA).

Thanks for that Bhoy, and I should have figured it was an ex-Reno bird as I just did a doubletake and realized that it is painted in the interim ‘white’ livery. All the ex-Reno birds took on this livery before being phased out by AA. The only time I’ve ever flown on AA (first and last) was on one of the ex-Reno MD90’s in this same livery (SNA-SFO).

Yikes, can’t afford any of the flights I’ve found for 23rd July, is there a major event going down in Amsterdam or something ?

Good question? The hotel is actually the cheapeast I will have paid in this being my 3rd visit there (Holiday Inn-de Bolelaan).

I think Olympic has parked their 717’s (1 of the 2, at least) for whatever idiotic reason. They are practically brand new.
