All change!!! the second 777LR transited through MAN to day. The hot rumour on the ramp is that the LR’s will be stopping at MAN on the outbound sector but doing the return leg non stop! The reason???, all I can say is that it’s NOT for fuel!!! 😉

    Rgds Cking

    What is the reason then?

T2 was never very pleasant inside, however I will miss the LH lounge on the upper level of T2 that offered superb views of landing aircraft and movements around the tarmac at a decent vantage point.

AC has decent service. Mostly I’ve flown with them across the border, but I’ve also flown on them within Canada as well. I only recently stopped flying with them because they started putting class of service restrictions on FFM accrual with Star Alliance partners.

Are the JL, RG, SK, etc. flights listed here their scheduled services or are they charters?

Went on a 757 a few years ago from Chicago to Seattle and it was awful. Really tatty, brown old United Style seats, poor service.

This must have been quite a few years ago then, as I’ve been flying UA consistantly since 1995, and they never had brown seats, even in their previous all white livery, and I’ve flown on all their types. Even the old grey seats without the adjustable headrests were decent.

No meals on domestic UA flights – just buy-on-board snack boxes that don’t contain anything that is remotely healthy (but then, you are in the USA!). Booze is also buy-on-board, soft drinks and hot drinks complimentary.

That’s pretty standard, however, on LAX-HNL flights, I believe you still get complimentary meal service. I did the last time I flew on that route. Same with LAX-IAD, or anything with a 5 hour flight time. Again, things might have changed since the last time I flew one of those legs. Don’t expect PTV’s in UA’s domestic 763’s and 777’s. Sometimes, however, you can get lucky and land a 3-class intl. config widebody twin. Overall decent service, for my dollar at least.

After the first 2 or 3 installments of ZRH, I was wondering if UA was going to make an appearance, and it finally did with the 763 in the new colours, nice! ZRH has a decent variety it seems, and I like that SA A340 with the mountain backdrop. Finally, interesting c/s on the Transavia 737. If they made those 4 colours into a cheatline instead of just a band around the fuselage, then we’d be talkin’.

It would be fairer to have a better mix of people on the test, to get a more realistic picture, not everybody is going to be super fit men and women…

Surely not everybody that goes to a gym is super fit, at least not the one that I’m a member at. They are there for a reason. 😀

they were just your average American airline of that era with their mini skirted flight attendants

What more can one ask for? 😉

You’ve heard wrong George, they cannot use any Australian port of exit to Lax

    Ok, thanks for clarifying that.

Whether they have realized it or not, Steve, they have not granted SQ access to the lucrative SYD-LAX route. I think it is safe to assume that they will not anytime soon either. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I heard that since SQ were not granted the aformentioned route, that they would ‘settle’ for being able to fly MEL-LAX or BNE-LAX. What is the truth to this? Or have they been denied any Australian port-of-call to LAX?

In regards to QF and BA using SIN as a hub, it might be that SIN is simply a lot nicer that KUL and BKK and provides better facilities to indulge in halfway into a 20 hour journey. I’ve never flown through either of them, so I cannot comment on them, but I have flown through SIN on the Kangaroo route.

    One question though!

Is it me, but whenever I land at AMS, you get what feels like a two hour tour of the airport before the crew decide park the bloody thing..lol 😀
I think on BHX – AMS flight we were taxiing longer than we were in the air.

It’s not you. If you land in AMS on a euro flight, you land on the runway (not sure of the name or number) that is quite a distance from the airport, and you taxi over that little canal that provides great photo ops if you take a bus there (details on Peter’s website). It’s a long taxi!

I can’t believe that AA does not have complimentary meal service on their JFK-LAX flights. That, along with the SFO-JFK run, is probably the most prestigious sector in N. America. I have flown that route numerous times, albeit with United, and the service along with the food has been outstanding in both business and economy, and that was before UA’s vaunted p.s. service that is the standard on those runs nowadays. I have not flown them since then, but if they are charging for meals in economy on those flights as well, I will be thoroughly disappointed. Nice photos, by the way.

What’s the deal with Phuket air? Why did they get banned? I’m assuming Thai is not affected by this.
