With 30% commission they are going to be costly lots!
Can I suggest an excellent book on the subject of ‘special’ RAF clubs and their badges titled Caterpillars Goldfish and Guinea Pigs Colin Pateman, it has the answers to all the questions raised on this thread

I meant 24 Squadron under 44 Group!
Also York MV 100 from 511 Squadron flew many dignitaries for the important conferences held in the Middle East and onto Teheran (Op Eureka) from November 1943 onwards to discuss the invasion of Europe etc with Churchill Stalin and Roosevelt. It was the responsibility of the Flight engineer to provide food and drink for the guests (as well as a few games of cards – which Churchill is recorded as having taken part on occasions). 24 Squadron under 24 Group also flew VIP’s in York aircraft.
According to the shipping records the Hurricane serials were Z 5557 and Z 5580-84 the latitude and longitude of the sunken ship are recorded (but not how deep the water is in this area?)

I agree with your thoughts Andy, and Fred Sutherland (RCAF) is still alive in Canada I believe.
SimonSpitfire,
First photos was taken at Calshot prior to Kinkead’s fatal attempt to take the air speed record in 1928. The second, also at Calshot, is from 1927 during testing and practice prior to the 1927 Schneider Trophy contest in Venice.
Many thanks Schneiderman, and this one?

Sorry that the family have not achieved the estimate (and reserve) value that they were advised of by the Auctioneers. Less worried that the Auctioneer has missed out of the buyers premium which, I think, would have been another £24,500. I may be wrong but I expect the family will still have to pay costs to the Auctioneer for listing despite not selling.
The advertisement of the sale would be enough for the auction house
They reached £140,000in the room but didn’t sell
Thank goodness this ‘Dambuster’ flying logbook ended up in a bookstore in Canada where it was spotted by a collector and saved post war!
