It wasn’t open on my last visit in August 2009.

    Cheers

    Ken,

    Have you missed a year?

How many years have you gone to Russia without missing one?

    What’s the context?

This is something I picked up in a shop over the weekend, the owner had no idea what it was used with, but it came out of a container of items from the 60’s through to the 80’s.

I assume that it not one of the more obvious “remove before flight” locations such as ejector seat, blanking plate or pitot cover and I just wondered if the combined knowledge base on the forum may be able to identify it.

I see it says that she is departing Waddington prior to the display. Is this where she is based at the moment? Is she not returning to Bruntingthorpe

558 is still at Waddington and I believe is intended to remain so, until at least October.

They have the use of some hanger space for maintenance.

I understand the operational difficulties and cost of flying in and out of Bruntingthorpe are prohibative.

    Hope this helps.

    Odd video

Did anybody else watch the video linked from the initial post?

    Not the best quality.

Does it not seem odd that the smoke just keeps on coming and there are no signs of any emergency vehicles at all in any of the shots, just the odd car or truck moving around in the foreground.

If that is the crash site, surely it would be the centre of a major emergency response?

Very unfortunate incident, but the crew walked away.

It will be interesting to see how the USAF PR machine handle it.

Also should I get a Sigma or Canon convertor to perform best

Just a quick note. Canon AF teleconverters will only physically fit some lenses, these tend to be the high end L series lens. So I do not think they will fit any independant lens manufacturers products or any of the cheaper Canon lenses.

There is information on this in a Canon lens brochure if you can get one.

If you can stretch to a Canon 100-400mm L series lens, a teleconverter will fit.

Having checked the replacement costs, I decided to take the safe option and replace them.

Two 1Gb cards from Ebuyer at around £12 each.

After all, I would hate for them to fail when the sky is full of Indian Flankers this summer.
