I have had a dozen or so of these types of e-mail recently, one of which actually had the name and address of a South African bank on it, I contacted the bank and forwarded the email on, I suggest just deleting them and ignoring them.
Can anyone gatecrash this party? or is it the chosen few only? 🙂
The main danger to people from mine is drowning from being licked to death 🙂
Sounds like mine, he would love you to death! but as he’s only 8 months old he still plays with his teeth, which can get pretty annoying when he nibbles you while you are on the phone! He is also getting pretty big and still greets you with an affectionate leap, his paws nearly reach my shoulders and soon he’ll be able to look me in the eye when he does it! (or just knock me to the floor!)

“Customer first line engagement on the fly”
I can actually explain this one, when I worked at B&Q the phrase we used was ‘hi on the fly’, basically it’s a way of telling you to ackowledge people, if you are busy and walking past them to get where you are going, then you just say hi as you pass them by.
So I guess in the scenario with a customer, it’s a simple hi or hello, without scaring them off by asking if they need help, they are much more likely to respond to this.

I have been watching this thread with interest, I am a moderator/administrater on another forum, and sometimes it can be a very fine line with regard to allowing certain things to be said.
In one instance, I jumped in and warned a member as he had just publically had a go at another member, the way he ‘spoke’ to that member and the questions put was not acceptable, the person that had a go was warned by pm about it, and then went and did it again. This time I sent him another pm, and also put a post up saying that it was not accetpable and that if he did it a third time I would temp ban him. The result was that he pm’d me and the person he had a go at, edited his posts to take the offending comments out and then put a post up apologising, unfortunately, a further member then decided to jump in and call into question the ‘heavy handed moderation’, both publically and in a very bad tempered pm to myself.
I had the support of the rest of the admin team, and also a lot of the members at the time, most people felt that the way I had handled things has been totally appropiate, but all it takes is for one person to get upset/irate about what you have done.
You can’t please everyone, all you can do is try and strike a balance, everyone has different views, and so does every moderator, things I have allowed have not been allowed by other mods, it’s all down to interpretation of the codes of conduct. It’s not an easy job, and there are times when you look at what is being said and ask yourself..’why do I bother?’

jbritchford………you sure got my vote on all you have suggested.
I also go along with what they do in the US, where life means life…ie you never get out, what is the point of giving someone life, which means 25 years and then letting them out after 12? I like the way they do long term sentances in the US….like you kill a family of 5, you get 5 life sentances, and get given a term of 99 years……….that’s more like it.
And while they are in there, whats with this one to a cell and an en-suite bathroom? that’s crap, its worth commiting a crime and hoping you go down just to get a luxury cell and three meals a day!
One other thing that needs changing is drink driving, at present if you kill someone while drunk at the wheel, its classed as death by dangerous driving, surely that should be manslaughter (if they can’t make it murder!), and something more than 18 months should be given.

A huge part of the problem came about by way of the do-gooders, telling us how to (not) bring up children, you are no longer allowed to smack them, teachers are not allowed to disipline them, the courts just give them a smack on the wrist if (and that’s a big IF) they get caught and go that far. This has produced a generation of ‘untouchables’ and don’t they just know it!
The parents of these children are the ones that society failed by bringing all this in, and now we reap what we have sown, the parents have no respect, and so how are the children supposed to learn it? you learn by example, we have managed to bring up a whole generation that think the world owes it, that they don’t have to take responsibility for them selves or their children, hey it’s ok, the state will do it for me!
There is no longer any shame in being a teenage mum, why should there be when it gets you a nice cosy council house and lots of benefits so you don’t actually have to work for a living? That’s the job these girls end up with….flat on their backs producing money making babies!
And for the record, I am not some old fuddy duddy, I am in my mid 30’s, have respect for people and their possessions, that was the way I was brought up. Even now I still dare not swear in front of my mother!

Glad to hear it.
