Hey well done on the pass.
LBA good luck for the theory.
My status…. er been out on the 50mph road near me a couple of times, got over taken at 45mph, went slightly over the 50, but managed to slow down for the speed camera, so far haven’t been able to go out since as the car has either been 8 miles away (with the ‘instructor’, who has been too occupied to assist) or he’s naffed off down the country and left the car here!
Haven’t attempted to reverse yet.
Some numpty in a bus decided to overtake me as I was just about to turn right! Luckilly I saw him in my mirror and stopped. I mean, I was on the right of my side of the road, indicating right and opposite a road (the one I was turning into) how much indication of my intentions did I have to give!
I think the front page of the Sun was concentrating on the attack on Steve McFadden, there was a little tiny bit about the other one! (well they couldn’t not comment really could they!)

Where do you get decal paper from? Him has been searching for it and we just can’t find any 🙁
We use mostly the little 14ml tins, but have found that when it comes to using gloss white it’s a swine to paint with, we tried the acrylic gloss white and that was even worse, so now him uses the spray tin enamel that Wilkinsons do, it’s their own stuff and it goes on great and lasts pretty well as it’s sposed to be non-yellowing.
In fact he’s that happy with it that he has also gotten some of the other colours (grey etc) for full body sprays on the aircraft. Be warned though, this paint mist gets everywhere and it stinks!
Have you tried white spirit?
Mr Muscles is pretty lethal stuff!
I got 9.
Not sure about the solicitor one, personally I would want to make sure that they were able to do the job I wanted them to do, if so then you ask about charges.

Moggy
Have spoken to an engineer at BA, he has advised that I speak to a Conc Flight Engineer, but what he could tell me was that to do Exeter to Heathrow they used to put in about 26 tons and used to land with about 10/11 left. This was a flight of about 30 minutes or so and so would be equivalent(ish) to a display flight.
At present we are not getting any figures from anyone in the know, so we cannot say how much it is going to cost, I promise that this is not fudging the issue, no one at present is allowing us any access to figures.
An MP has been to a meeting with BA and we are awaiting the outcome of that to find out what BA’s stand is on this.
We are having to take it one obstacle at a time.
Moggy, I can get the information for you, bear with me, as I am not too clued up on the technical side of it 🙂
As a member of the group concerned, I thought it was about time I said something.
Motives for our actions, well basically we feel that at least one airframe should have been kept in an airworthy condition to allow her to fly at airshows and for special flypasts. (one to bear in mind here is how good she looks flying in formation with the Reds)
We all feel that she is an important part of our aviation history, and the best way to appreciate her is in the air and not on the ground as a museum piece. We want future generations to be able to see what this country (along with France) was capable of designing, building and operating, for them to see, hear and feel it for themselves instead of having to imagine it.
She will of course never operate commercially again, and we appreciate that she will not carry passengers.
Another thing that keeps getting overlooked is the impact this could have on the home of whichever airframe was chosen, take for example if it was Alpha Fox at Filton, this would elevate the pulling power of Filton, it would be the only museum with a working Concorde, and think of the crowds it could pull in with the take offs and landings on the day she would be ‘working’.
I know a lot of people think we are wasting our time, and some think we are downright nutters! but please, we have and are still working hard on this campaign, we have some knowledgable people from the industry helping us.
Either we will succeed or we will fail, but at least we know we gave it everything we had.
Other half has had to buy the Nikon 80-400 for the D70 because he suffered kicks on the auto-focus on the Sigma 80-400.
He has the exact setup that you are looking for the answers to, but hasn’t yet made it to the airport to photograph the planes, if you can hold off for a couple of weekends, I will dispatch him to the airport and then he can give you a run down on the performance and quality.
(for some reason the Sigma 80-400 inside mechanism seemed to jerk violently and intermittantly during auto focus, don’t know if it was down to the lens, camera or combination of the two, hence he went for the Nikon lens, having to pay the extra £400) (Sigma = £800, Nikon = £1200)
He was given some advice by Nikon users at the airport and was recommended to use Nikon lenses. Also consider using an analogue lens, bearing in mind that analogue lenses are more powerful on digital cameras, than the numbers state.
Dependant on weather and your location, if you are available to meet up mid week, or Sunday at Manchester Airport, you can have a go with his if you want.
Why does it have to be a carbon based humaiod lifeform that needs water and oxygen to survive?
I think it’s very arrogant of mankind to think that ‘we’ are the best that the universe has to offer for all these years, lets face it, in the grand scheme of things just on planet Earth, we are but an insignificant blip!
