    Sorry but….

Offcourse you are free in your choice to quit, but when you stop given your opinion about any subject for that manor you are giving in to what other people want you to do:

Being muslim gives you the chance to look at the subjects in a different angle.

Giving your opnion is always appreciated alltough not always agreed with.

And especially in my opnion terrorist attacks and the reaction on it has nothing to do with religion, but with abussing religion to gain more power.

    Doors and Cowlings

I’m sorry to say this, and I want say to you all that the it terrible that there are people hurt. But these things tend to happen.
Where people work mistakes are made. And when you work with aircraft the concequences of even a tiny mistake are much greater.

Unfortunately for the DOD this is a high profile case.

    Decoy

    Hello guys!

I personally think that any modern radar will ‘see’ if it’s an plane or a missile. But I think that it will work when it role is to be a decoy for other missiles
such as SDB, JSOW or SLAM-ER glidebombs/missiles.

Does anyone Know if has a system that wil increase the RCS so that it will stand out even more?

    UFO = UAV???

    😎

These pics are very interesting! If I see this correctly, to mee it looks like a podded UAV a bit similar with the V-22 configuration accept without the proprotors, and with a vertical fuselage.

I’m now having a twilight zone tune buzzing in my head!:D

    push props

There are also some pilots that didn’t like the idea of a prop in the back that potentially could slice you up when you had to bail out!

(The same principle have the AWACS guys in the back when the have to bail out, they have to step out a door at the underside of the fuselage…followed by some nasty atenna’s).

    Shoulder mounted wing

Also a difference between civil passenger jets and militairy transports is that civil jets have two compartments the lower for the cargo/luggage and the central wingbox fuelcell.

The miliairy jets don’t have that because they want to have a single big volume of space to use for cargo. If you have the wing on the underside of the a/c you still have a big wingbox, thus the deck has to be placed higher end thus lesser volume to use for cargo.

    RNLAF Upgrades

    For transports:
Recently the Dutch DOD a contract to get heavy transport by cooperating with mutiple NATO and non NATO countries, with one; sharing eachothers transport aircraft. And hiring civil transports.
And secondly Buying heavy Transports (C-17)thru NATO just like they did with the E-3 AWACS.

For the AH-64D: It’s a true D version only the Dutch didn’t buy the Longbow radar. Instead the are now looking for a second generation TADS/PAVS system.
They found out in Iraq and Afghanistan that identification of vehilcles can’t be done with the AGP-78, because there is no clear enemy. Only the Mark one eyeball can see if the technical (pick-up truck) is hostile!

For the Lightning II: they are planning to buy 85 of them.

UAV al lot of research is going on for a globalhawk kind of UAV that can do, SIGINT/COMMINT? coms relay and that cn carry a SAR Radar or optical sensors.

Dutch Army already uses the sperwer, and the special forces are borrowing some small UAV (over the hill viewing) from the Germans.

    S-400 and such

    Nice ‘jamming’ schorch!:) 🙂 🙂

I like to comment about stealth. I don’t know how much the F-22 stealthieness (is that an english word?) has an effect on the S-400 system. I know that it reduces the effective range of a radar but how much?
That’s what I like to find out. And that’s why I put an questionmark at the end of the sentence.

    S-400 engagement?

But what about the large killzone of the s-400? for large a/c it’s 400km. What do you think it’s effective range for stealth A/C?
is it more in the range of about 60-80km? And the same for SDB?
I think stealth is a must have if you want to engage this kind of monster. It’s the best ADF system there is!

    And what about electronic attack/jamming?

    Bring it on!

    helos in combat

I worked with helos for a long time. And I think the biggest problem there is that the commanders in the field use the helicopters as trucks. That should be enough the get rid of some of them because when you underestimate the foes you will get in trouble! Secondly the US still think that it does not matter if you lose some birds. because they have(had) a lot of them. That’s why the us army change their tactics any time soon, just because they can afford it. A helo isn’t a truck! use them wisely…. and not for duckhunt!

I had a difficult time explaining the army that an helo isn’t something you start with a key a drive away with. (although with the us birds u need a key).

    TVC tactics

Just dont’t forget that there’s more then manouevring. The big advantage of the
Raptor is SA. Getting the info there when it’s needed. Externally or with onboard systems. What a differance does it makes when you get shot… By a raptor on its own or by a viper that is vectored correctly by a Awacs…. And what if the raptor is helped by more than it’s own systems?

I just want to say that stealth isn’t everything. You have to look at the system as a whole and with the raptor-birds they looked at the whole package.
Information at the right time… thats the answer.;)

This was published by janes, isn’t this an passive coherent location system?:

Ukraine sells advanced aircraft detection system to Iran

In spite of a likely angry response from Washington, the Ukraine has sold an advanced aircraft detection system to Iran.
Robert Karniol, Asia-Pacific Editor for Jane’s Defence Weekly, says that the system – Kolchuga, is designed to detect the take-off and formation of aircraft groups at ranges beyond that of current radar systems – making a very effective early warning air defence system.

“The system is claimed to have a long range detection of 600km along a front of 1,000km and can determine the course and speed of targets, while designating them for air defence,” said Karniol.

“It is not known how many Kolchuga stations have been acquired by Iran, but sources say that each cost about USD25 million, with deliveries either recent or imminent.”

Jane’s Defence Weekly reports that Iran is looking to bolster air defences in light of suspicions over its nuclear programme – fearing a potential US or Israeli raid on its facilities.

The revelation of the Kolchuga sale to Iran comes at a trying time for Kiev, with President Viktor Yushchenko and Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovych duelling over Ukraine’s future relationship with NATO.

Jane’s Defence Weekly reports that the US and UK sent investigators to Kiev in October 2002 to explore claims from March of that year that Ukraine had defied UN arms sanctions by selling the Kolchuga system to Iraq – the Ukrainian government denied the allegations and they were never confirmed.

More recently, Washington was angered by the regime of former Ukrainian President Leonid Kuchma when it emerged last year that it had delivered at lease 18 cruise missiles to Iran and China in 2001. (ENDS)

    About Jane’s Defence Weekly
Jane’s Defence Weekly continues to hold an unequalled record for pinpointing geopolitical threats, revealing new weapon technology and analysing military activity around the world. This award winning publication has a reputation for breaking world exclusive news and for expert, meaningful interpretation of developments on the ground, at sea, and in the air; and in boardrooms and command centres throughout the world.

In this article nothing is said about radar but they talk about an detection system.
I’m guesing this is a passive covert radar system.

So again is it possible to put this in an fighter?
