Having pictures that have not been published before is important but the text (including the pictures caption) also is important (at least for me). For instance, Y. Arsenyev and D. Baranov’s article about the 2nd generation MiG-21 states the serial numbers from which various improvements have been introduced (introduction of the KM-1 seat and the two-piece canopy with airframe 941221, etc). To me, such informations should appear in a serious monography.

I which issue of M-hobby was this article published?

Thanks for the nice info Luis πŸ™‚

    The MiG-23MF arrived to Cuba in 1980 with a total of 14 MiG-23MF serials 810-823 and 2 Mig-23UB serials 702-703.

MiG-23MF 822 is preserved in the museum.
This MiG-23MF has line number 13710. So this aircraft was built in late 1981

    Line number 13410 (Polish AF MiG-23MF 012, c/n 0390221012) has mfd 27aug81.

The MiG-23ML one squadron got to Cuba in mid 1983 with 12 MiG-23ML serials 210-221 and two MiG-23UB serial 706-707, the Soviet Union put two more MiG-23ML squadrons in Angola, that were property of the Cubans, at least 17 MiG-23ML and 1 MiG-23UB lost in combat or accidents in Angola, with only 7 MiG-23ML and 1 MiG-23UB coming back to Cuba after the Angolan war.

MiG-23ML 223 is preserved in the museum.
This MiG-23ML has line number 11223. So this aircraft was built around 1980. Maybe ex SovAF ?
If this aircraft was not ex SovAF, than Cuba was one of the first export MiG-23ML users.

Delivered to Cuba 12 MiG-23ML plus some 7 “ex Angola war” MiG-23ML.
    But 36 Cuban MiG-23ML serials are known (210 – 245)!
MiG-23ML 243 was seen on 15dec96 in Havana.

The last MiG-23 at the museum is MiG-23UB 706.
This aircraft has export c/n A1038407. This MiG-23UB was delivered in 1984 to Cuba.

Please if someone wants to used any part of these, ask for permition first, I hava lots more info.

What do you know about MiG-21 and MiG-29 deliveries to Cuba?

What happend to all those Yugoslav MiG-21F-13 (40) and MiG-21PFM (36) aircraft. Only few examples of both MiG-21 types can still be found in Serbia. All others scrapped / crashed ?????????????

    Hello dear Nijmeijer

It so if to trust pictures ACIG.org
    http://www.acig.org/artman/publish/article_262.shtml
However Egyptian MiG-21F-13 up to 1967 I at all have not found PHOTOS.
There is a photo from 1969, 26th Sqn, “5843”. (History of Aviation #3/2001)
By number it is the plane from the second set received in 1963.
In this photo aerials of system “Chrom” are clearly visible.

    Hello,

I have found a picture of an Egypt AF MiG-21F-13 in a book which has the “Magniy” aerial (MiG-21F-13 5006 pictured on 26 October 1964).

I think this IFF system is also known as SRO-1 Bariy-M.

The picture of MiG-21F-13 5843 was not taken in 1969 but I think in 1981.
It was first published in Air International april 1982 (in full colour) and was taken by Denis Hughes.

I spoke about it in previous post πŸ™‚
It is authentically known, that system “Magniy” which aerial was above a fuselage, had the early export series received by Indonesia in 1962, by India and Finland in 1963.

Egypt also received some MiG-21F-13 aircraft with the “Magniy” aerial.
