Good news. Look forward to hearing what they have planned for her.

So will the new arrivals be kept as runners or is it too late/exspensive to keep then running?
At the moment they’re both engineless, so they won’t be running for a while. I believe the owners are looking for pieces to put them back together. If anyone knows of anything I’m sure the team there would love to hear from you.
I missed this at the time but i was wondering how it all turned out in the end?
I missed it too, but there are some good photos around;

Next event on the 6th May.
Has anyone got a picture of 558 on the dump at Marham before it was exchanged for the other example XH560 that was there in 1987 when I was there? I think XL445 and 426 were the only ones to be in the darker grey at the end of Vulcan operations and only 445 was in wrap round.
All the photos I’ve seen of 426 in the 80s show her in wrap around with the lighter grey. i think she only went darker grey with the VRT at Southend.
Never mind best scheme (agree with Firebird btw!) but have they painted it in the wrong shade of grey for the wraparound camo scheme – again?!
That scheme should be Dark Green and Dark Sea Grey, looks like the same Medium Sea Grey (correct for earlier pictures scheme) as used before.
Apologies if I’m wrong or it’s the lighting.
I think there were two or three different shades of grey used for the wrap around. This one’s on the lighter side, but I think it’s still “real”.
And again, if anyone wants an earlier scheme you could take a trip to NEAM; 🙂

edit: having a quick look through the excellent warpaint book, the wrap around could be dark sea grey or medium sea grey (which I think 558’s used?).
Imagine sanding that thing down! :diablo:
Pop along to NEAM on a Sunday and you won’t need to imagine!
Too small for javelin??
I don’t think the end’s pointy enough for a javelin either.
Is it possible to land at elvington for visiting the museum?
I think I’ve seen a few aircraft doing that, but no idea how you’d go about organising it. One of them was the airfield owner.
What if I call it a B2 then??
That’s probably a lot easier 😉
If you did want to make it a B1A you should also remove the lower and smaller opening on the little bump at the tip of the nose. The Mk 2s have two, one over the other, Mk1s only have the one.
nice one on the markings and i suspect Ian has it on his victor already!! but is that a skull and crossbones underneath the paint?
Yes, it’s a 100 squadron zap which she wore until her last repaint (around 2006). I can’t remember how she came by them; perhaps Victor_sim or Pantrash know?
A few photos from Wednesday’s birthday.
Ian turned up early to add some last minute anniversary markings.
Can you tell what it is yet?
The crew chief joins in to help clean the tape off
Some unique Victor markings. I wonder how long before we see this in 1:72nd?
The light caught some of her wrinkles. Not looking too bad for 50.
The team runs up the APU and gives all her systems a bit of exercise.

Finally Elvington’s new C1/107 display team.
Just noticed this thread, apologies if this reply’s too late to be useful.
I took my Canon 1000D to Lapland last March (Abisko in Sweden), perhaps a bit warmer than this time of year (typically around -12 oC but down to -19 during the day) and had no problems at all photographing out in the snow and the Northern lights. The lens would steam up as soon as I came inside, but outside there were no problems at all.
The Sony mini DV video camera was a different story, but it seems to work after a thorough defrosting.
Have fun, it’s lovely.
Nice to see the work continues…
Talking of work blue, have you picked up that motor casing yet
Fantastic, what a treat to see another Vulcan alive!!! WELL DONE to all those involved
426 has always been alive (at least since the mid-90s). She’s stopped doing fast taxying for a bit whilst they do some deep maintenance, but she still makes a noise regularly.
They’ve got regular engineering updates and a few facebook groups.
