There are some annoying typos, and one or two factual errors, but on the whole I learned a lot about a Peterborough site with which I was familar but did not know the details.

Those who make no mistakes, do nothing at all!
Well, so far the ones you have posted on this forum and your blogspot are exactly the same. So no need for the sarcy responce!
What, all 300 plus of them?
Yes, complete with stamp on rear, hand written pencil description. Totally gutted. Thought I had something unique. Was planning to publish an english/french book as well!!
The ‘Provinence’ -they are all 130mm x 100mm on very thin ‘proof’ photographic paper. They have either ‘Agence ROL DEVRED, 4 Rue Ricker Paris IX’ or “Meurisse” 9 Faubourg, Monmartre, Paris rubber stamped on the rear, with some form of ‘caption’ scribbled in pencil alongside. A few appear on a Past to Present Gallery website, but the ones we acquired via a French collector friend are genuine contemporary items we think. As far as captions/descriptions (if I am reading them correctly) gms781a is captioned ‘manoeuvrs de Picardie 1910’. gms803a ’29/10/1911 Moissoy – nacelle du dirrigeible Lt Selle de Beauchamp. gms945a is simply dated ‘1919’.
Funny this. I have the exact same collection on heavy weight photographic paper, all original?
XP757 Owner
That first lightning cockpit in the pictures is a mk3 and is of xp757 which is being restored in stamford by martin chorlton .I know that cockpit personally .
The second one is definately a mk1 or 1a as defined by the gun blast tube vent on the side.
I thought XP757 was owned by Darren Swinn at Boston?
Bit of a shame that there are so many spelling mistakes in the book, should have been better proof read, but still a very good book.
I have just reached the point of despair! It seems that every positive comment has to have a negative one to drag it down! I have not read a single book, aviation or otherwise that is without a spelling mistake or grammatical error. I’ve even seen material recently that has an error on the cover! For christ sake, 180,000 words the odd error is going to creep in. Stop slagging other peoples work off.

FlyPast Review
“To read this book is a delight and it is quite clear that Mick has not left a stone unturned in his researches. This book is backed up by plenty of appendices, a great index, superbly reproduced illustrations and clear, careful design. All of this pales against the warm yet authoritative narrative……..”

On behalf of Mick, Thanks FlyPast!
Coltishall in Stock Soon
I went to buy one in Norwich on Saturday, but it appears that it is is sold out. Jarrolds store are waiting for more to come in, so had to reserve a copy….:(
Jarrolds should be restocked on or around the 18th January 2008. 3000 more copies travelling across Europe as we speak!
HMP Coltishall
Today the Government announced that the base is to become a new Prison. Sad that after all the young disciplined men who died flying from Coltishall fighting for their country in World War Two,that the site is to home mostly young undisciplined men who hardly give a damn about respect.
The latest story about Coltishalls future.

Many thanks! I have not seen that photo before. The fact that, in the RAE wind tunnel, the Hobby is still bearing the marks ‘U2’ makes me (a) wonder whether it ever carried the civil registration G-AFAW and (b) think that the military serial L9706 was only ever a paper allocation. I fear that unless someone can answer the questions posed in my original post, we will never know!
I’m am inclined to agree! Good look with the hunt though!
C’mon Moley! Where is the promised photo of the Hobby carrying civilian markings? My breath has been bated for several days now!
Sorry, but the civvy markings shot turned out to be the same image as yours. However, you may find this wind tunnel shot of interest?
Cheers
Hobby
Hello
I do have a photo of the Hobby wearing G-AFAW. I will have it dug out of my collection by tomorrow.
Jet Bomber Pilot
and last couple of the valiant which stunned me, an awesome sight, to see the three V bombers together, the only place in the world you can do so. the cold war museum is itself a piece of art, as much as the art it contains! the circle of death, shows the devastation a one Megaton thermonuclear weapon produces, the orange circle dead over cosford, “heat of the sun” gradually getting less and down to skin blisters at wolverhampton! 😮 the russians have a 100 Megaton bomb, that causes third degree burns at 100km 😮 its slightly chilling knowing that most of the aircraft were designed for one purpose in mind!
Hi
You should read Jet Bomber Pilot by Wg Cdr ‘Robby’ Robinson. The pressure on those crews were enormous. They were the men who on the word of a politician could have brought about the final ‘global warming!’
Cheers
