hey you! what’s with “bring_it_on?”
gees, i thought i’d just post a few pics and you make a big deal out of it? the Gripens are staying overnight (perhaps longer) in Iqaluit on their way back home. they’re the same jets that landed here last month on their way to Alaska, but since i was out of town (three weeks ago), i thought i post a few pics, that’s all.
what i don’t understand is, they’re left outside with our everchanging elements. our weather can change unexpectedy (hey, Iqaluit is WAY UP NORTH) and tends to be unpredictable. the least was that the Gripens could have used the old FOL Hangers that were originally built for CF-188’s during the Cold War Years!!!
fast and nimble jets — it was like as if they’re on steroids (same engine as F/A-18, i believe? but instead of two engines, it’s one on small airframe).
hey, that reminds me… F-15 & F-16, same engine…
… F/A-18 & JAS-39, same engine?!
“Impressive!”
-now that’s a bombload from the Eurofighter pics!
after reading the article, i sort of imagined of what the pilots from both jets must have felt with near-miss collision that both were not aware of. interesting article…thanks for bringing it to the forum ‘cuz i’ve lost the magazine.
The Little One That Could Have…
F-20 Tigershark with Sparrows — would have been overkill with AMRAAMs today?
NEXST1 SST?!
was it somehow that has to do with Japanese scale model explosion back in July 2002? or perhaps a newer one?

got the info from GOOGLE site under “jet crashes” (web, not images)…
Douglas C-124C Globemaster
a rare find…
dated April 27, 1955
-a Douglas C-124C Globemaster landed short of the runway and crashed. can you believe, as it says from the website, that they’re were no fatalities but the aircraft was a total loss!?
one of the engines (as seen from pic) continued to operate/running for another day or so after the crash. for more info, go to:
F-111B US Navy
i don’t know whether these couple of pics were already included or not, so what the heck? an F-111B during the early testing with both F-111B/Phoenix Misslies combo for US Navy that was eventually cancelled.
back to the pic (attachment)…
i don’t know… maybe, it’s just me, or not. sort of reminds me of the annoying character from Star Ways Episode 1?? the one with the long ears and a snout-shaped head? can’t remember the character’s name…
go to Aviapedia.com and listen to her engines screaming. man, try it with stereo speakers, too!
managed to find another pic, but this time from the opposite side from the first pic, pic taken from the Aircraft Carrier. you can see the helicopter (Sea King) out in the distance in the background.
welcome to Canada…
(sorry, i don’t have Photoshop to add over the American markings…)
does anyone have the ‘attachment’ in full picture? with the whole Warthog?
just thought that the MiG would be easier to built than the Yak, also less complex design than the Yak. can’t argue the Yak is a nice design with LERXs and being more advanced, but would surely slow down the production line.
P-3C Orion with Harpoons…
