as for the LR Air to Surface missile, it could be the air-launched Brahmos being developed for the MKI as of now ?
Ankush,
We’ve been talking to the Brahmos people at LAAD, and they said that the air launched Brahmos is being developed inicially to the indians Il-38SD and Su-30. BUT, the joint managing director of the program also commented that they choose the Su-30 as one of the first vectors of the missile because there are a large amount of unitys of the Flanker family flying around the world. But, as Brahmos is a “not-so-russian” project, I think it’s not the missile “not-mencioned” by Sukhoi’s people. In time: the air-launched Brahmos will have a range of 300 km.
Great news Carlos, thanks for the post….
Not quite ‘first time ever’…..
FWIW, the Su-27SMK, first proposed by KnAAPO back in 1995, had provision for 2 x PTB-2000 fuel tanks – they are shown as MTB-200 tanks on the accompanying (poor) scan…..
Ken
Thanks for the correction, Ken. This text that I posted was written by my partner Hammer, but I also didn’t know about that detail of the Su-27SMK. 🙂
For some reason I can’t access the JPGs of the brochure and I really want to. Am I doing something wrong?
Ink,
Go to the Base Militar website, and check the news area (you can access it by clicking on the Su-35 picture in the home page). If after that you still getting problems, please let me know by private message.
Even if the cold war is finished, I just can’t imagine NATO giving information on their datalink nework to a Russian company
So could that “inbuilt capability” just be an empty equipment case for mounting a MIDS LVT low teminal volume with adapted power supply, MIL ST1553 databus, and required interfaces ?
I agree with you, Torpedo. Although they didn’t give us more details, I think this solutions seems way more resonable than NATO simply give the whole secrets to Sukhoi.
Thank you guys, and I hope you still visiting Base Militar after that :diablo:
Best regards!
