Or some or all were Rafale Ms, which only carry 1 on centreline for roll stability reasons.

No Rafale M was part in that mission.
According to the Mindef, 1 of the 10 scalps failed to launch.

FYI, I track the deliveries here:
    http://rafalenews.blogspot.com/p/orders-and-deliveries.html

From 2019 to 2021 the production rate should rise up to 24 a/c per year (with the current backlog) to deliver Qatari and Indian Rafale. After that the rate will decrease again if there is no new export order.

Even the Black Shaheen is credited with a longer distance. Exactly where does it state an export version has a 250km range (or are you basically talking about the Black Shaheen). If so, nowhere does it state that is the version Egypt is getting. It states SCALP EG. willing to believe the defense reporting was incorrect. Really doesn’t change the fact that the 250km Black Shaheen quoted range is BS. Which is why after last sale US-France-UK discussed an average range, not low- low flight profile for compliant export missiles.

Black Shaheen is just a pretty name the UAE give to their Scalp-EG. The fact that it is exported means – by definition – that it is an export version of the SCALP-EG and thereforfore it must respect the MTCR terms.
Now, it is you who are asserting that France will not respect the MTCR terms with the Scalp-EG version proposed to Egypt. This is just your opinion.

SCALP is formally rated at 250km by MBDA but a quick analysis of size suggests that’s beyond very conservative and most likely a lie to bypass the MTCR.

Stop the BS. The export version is limited to 250 Km. No need to lie.

Will those new Rafale be F4.2?

    Yes.

AFAIK, the Rafale B358 will be the last French F3 aircraft to be delivered (next month).
The 28 remaining French Rafale of the tranche 4 to be delivered after the B358 will be F4.2 aircrafts out of the assembly line, even if they won’t have all the F4.2 features immediatly. They will get them step by step between 2022 and 2025)
The F4.1 standard is supposed to be a software upgrade for all the F3 Rafale before the B358.

The main difference between F4.2 aircrafts and F3 retrofited to F4.1 aircrafts, is the hardware : The F4.2 will get the new GaN antenna, new OSF IR channel, HMD, cockpit updates…)

The antenna for Spectra is at the back if I’m not mistaken, this is something more akin to a bottle top at the front of the DDM-NG bar and isn’t on all Ms or all Rafales. I’ll show a picture or you’ll probably think I’m mad.

This is a forward looking camera only mounted on test bench aircrafts (here on the B301)

Probably. There was an issue on one of the planes (a “Fenwick” broke if i remember well). So i guess it is this one.

No, The M41 Which had to be rebuilt after the crane inident was delivered in march 2016 to the navy. It was onboard the Charles de Gaulle during Arromanches III (Irak / Syria)
AFAIK, The last Rafale M F1 to be delivered at the F3 standard in 2018 is the M1.

Assuming that UFO’s are solid objects and zip around our atmosphere at phenomenal speeds as many believe how is it that we are not hearing sonic booms all the time?

Under nose IRST is adequate for long/medium range but some F-15E version also have IRST on top of their nose

Interresting. Which version is it ?

That doesn’t prove anything. Even the best platform is not immune from accidents. F-15/Su-27 is more maneuverable than Rafale/F-16 with heavy load because they are very massive aircraft to start with. The % increase of mass and drag when you put some missile or bombs on F-15 is lower than when you load Rafale with the same thing.

Well, it proves that you can put the F-15E in a spin while performing standard maneuvering.
IMHO, the “massive aircraft” argument is dubious. Or then you could argue that a su-24 or TU-22 are even more agile. But I understand your point : This may work for the heaviest configurations but there must but a load weight below which the lighter aircraft takes the lead.

Can somebody give us an update of which of these features (Eurofighter picture above) are founded and when they are planned to be implementated ?

F-15K and F-15SG are equipped with Tiger eye IRST

Indeed, but I find its location rather unapropriate for A2A monitoring. But at least it’s there.

F-15E had AESA for a while now, APG-63v3 has interleaved A2G and A2A mode.

Are you sure about that (interleave ability)?

Andraxxus done the calculations before, with heavy load, F-15 will have better speed and agility than anything else currently flying bar the Su-27. Because they are already very heavy to start with.

Agility or over permissive FCS ?

most of that is conjecture, can be compensated by tactics or can be retrofitted to the Eurofighter and as I already indicated we aren’t talking about a current Eurofighter but a Tranche 4 optimised for the Tornado replacement role.

That’s the probleme with the Eurofighter: it always has to be optimised to do things competitors are doing for years. The idea that it can be done quickly and at an acceptable cost is also a conjecture at this point.

Again, Rafale offers nothing at low level that is not or could not be available with other platforms. An F-15E variant is a perfectly suitable Tornado replacement and would offer better payload/range than Rafale in a low level scenario.

I can think of a few features the Rafale offers over other platforms for deep strike penetration

    Over the current Typhoon

    • One of the best Automatic terrain following system based on both radar and/or digital map data (for higher discretion)
    • Ability to engage air and ground threats while in terrain following mode
    • Longer range (with cruise missiles, this is not even a contest) which can be used for deeper penetration or different choices of penetration axis.
    • Higher payload while retaining full external fuel capacity.
    • AASM missile family with extented integration into the Rafale platform allowing high speed, high alpha and low level multi-firing on off axis, stand off targets.
    • A 2 seater version suited for war mission
    • Apparently, easier and faster new A2G weapon integration (especially for the more demanding low level, hight speed flight configuration).
    • IR decoy system better suited for low altitude (flares are fired up, not down)
    • 360° IR missile warning system

    Over the current F-15E

    • Full Sensor fusion
    • Better RCS management
    • Integrated optrotic system for silent A2A monitoring/ID while in A2G mode
    • A2A and A2G modes interleaved
    • Lower operating cots
    • Better, more secured FBW system, better agility with heavy payloads ?

An Italian Typhoon crashed today at the terracina Airshow. The pilot didn’t manage to eject 🙁
