Some nice A2A configurations :
mica EM/IR on the wing tips (It’s the first time I see different types of mica on the wing tips)
Also, note the new registration number matching NATO standard (113 is the airbase number where the plane operates)
The classic interception conf. with 6 mica and a supersonic drop tank
It seems that the gun was used during the mission :diablo:

more or less a Dassault/adla brochure though
4. The total cost of the Rafale program, including development, pre-production, production and integrated logistical support, amounts to EUR 33,273-million Euro (inclusive of value-added tax) at 2003 prices.
Which is about 37 billion in 2008 prices
“For at least 3 years”… You make it sound like if there were Rafales stationed in Greece for 3 years, flying all the time… They came twice in a 3 years period, fine! We are supposed to have a military cooperation, there are exchange of Mirage squadrons for years between HAF and AdA. This means that you MUST buy always french??? If so, we ‘d better cut cooperation
!
:confused:off course not..and i never thought or write that
BTW, you forget that the greeks have played on very regular basis with the rafale F1 and F2 during the numerous TLP …you know, those NATO exercices where the typhoon used to be quite shy (bad kovy ! this is not a rafale vs FF2000 thread) 😀
My conclusion: You should better stop being naive about how countries make arms deals. Unlike South Korea, our politicians have openly stated, that political gains are also part of the equation.
I am VERY naive 😎
But you are making my point which is : Greece will buy more F-16 for many good reasons (good value for maney, weak dollar, new US president to please, already in service, cheap weapons… and a free ticket to enter the JSF club in 10 years).
Now, may be it’s time to stop repeating the same things about the greek deal all over this thread and wait for the final decision.
BTW, the rafale F3 with AESA is going to the UAE this week for testing.
I guess, the F16bk60 are also going to show up over there :dev2:

A: Of course Rafale F2 should be the superior one, no one will deny that, but how much superior ?? is it superior enough ?? or what is the definition of superior enough ?? We still have no idea.

Don’t you think this greek “contest” is a little strange ?
First they say they order 90 eurofighters… they take a lot of time to place the order and..
cancel it to buy 30 brand new F-16 of the last standard with all the toys.
Then, they say that the next order will be an european fighter no matter what (ie typhoon, rafale)
Then they conduct several exercises with the french rafale for at least 3 years, and even test it with their awacs datalink.
Then 2 american planes are back in the game
Then the rafale is not good enough compare to the F16 (it took a long time for the greek to figure that out  )
My conclusion, is : they just want more F-16 because it is good enough for them and far more cheaper thanks to the US dumpping strategy in europe and a weak dollar. The rafale and the typhoon are once again there so that the USA lower the price even more.
whatever,
it looks like to me that the greek government is looking for good excuses to either :
1- get a much lower price on the rafale arguing it is not much better than a F-16
2- buy more cheap F16 if they can’t reach point 1-
Because they simply do not have the money to afford the rafale F3 or the typhoon.
Did we already speak about that ?
A french rafale F2 and a greek Erieye, conducting interoperability tests of the link16 last august :

But in the end, it was a pointless adventure. There is no independent european aviation industry as an result.
At the industrial level, both rafale and typhhon are failures as they didn’t manage to prevent the US to suck the european R&D budget with the F35.
Where do we think that Rafale has most chance of an export order?
I think that Brazil looks most promising, and I believe that India offers a good prospect. We’ll find out soon enough about Switzerland, but otherwise….?
my personal estimation :
UAE : 80%
Qatar : 70%
Brazil : 60%
Greece : 50%
Libya : 40%
Swiss : 40%
India : 30 %
Pakistan :10%
Argentina : 5%
