According to the Su-27 SK manual, The networking is possible among a group of 4 su-27SK.
Don’t know if an A-50 is required though.
so when did the french ask the UNs permission again????
Read the UN resolution 1528 art16 : The french got the authorisation to use all necessary means to Intervene against belligerent actions since April 2004.
BTW, the su-25 and mi-24 were breaking the cease fire for 2 days… Therefore the french were very patient until those aircrafts strike them…
next time, Mr Gbagbo will respect the UN resolution and his toys will stay in one piece.
on the last one you couls see two 2000C and one 2000-5F
I see (from right to left) one 2000B, one 2000C and one 2-seater 2000-5 :diablo: 😉
“Y’guys may have invented English but we made it user freindly!”
user friendly but incomprehensible for the rest of the world :p
“Pre-emptive strikes – I thought the French were opposed to that sort of action?”
The french made a pre-emptive strike? Yeah right.
What pre-emptive strike are you talking about ?
The su-25 strike us and then we destroyed them as allowed by the security council… there is no pre-emptive strike there
As said before, French forces went to Ci in 2002 on the request of Mr. Gbagbo, persident of IC.
BTW, UN resolution 1528 art.16 : http://ods-dds-ny.un.org/doc/UNDOC/GEN/N04/253/20/PDF/N0425320.pdf?OpenElement
“Authorizes for a period of 12 months from 4 April 2004 the French forces
to use all necessary means in order to support UNOCI in accordance with the
agreement to be reached between UNOCI and the French authorities, and in
particular to:
– Contribute to the general security of the area of activity of the international
forces,
– Intervene at the request of UNOCI in support of its elements whose security
may be threatened,
– Intervene against belligerent actions, if the security conditions so require,
outside the areas directly controlled by UNOCI,
– Help to protect civilians, in the deployment areas of their units“
This is exactly what the French are doing, no more, no less.
I guess if you can get away with a military occupation as well as continuing to practice colonialism 50 yrs after the occupying nation supposably became independant and do so under the cover of the UN,
Why do you say France is occupying Cote d’ivoire ?
AFAIK, Gbagbo government is still in charge of his country…There is not a french or pro-french government there, only Gbagbo on one side and rebels on the other side…both of them accusing France to vafoured the other side (which is a good evidence that France is impartial)
Gbagbo can’t just call France and UN for help when he need them and strike their peace-keeper soldiers when he think he doesn’t need them anymore. UN doen’t work like that
UN and france are very clear on this point : Gbagbo is the legal president of cote d’ivoire and therefore he is responsible of the civilian order in the part of the country under his control… Asking civilians to attack peace-keepers and brodcasting hate and racist messages on TV/radio, breaking a UN ceasefire, saying that france has declared war to cote d’ivoire and want to overthrow the president (which is obviously wrong) is not exactly my definition of someone assuming the responsability of the civilian order. 😉
Last point : French officers have confirmed that the 2 su-25 made 2 fly by over the french position and eventually strike it during their third pass.
Therefore, the french government is very close to think that this strike was not a mistake. 😡
I don’t recall the Cote d’Ivoire attacking France nor was it a direct threat to France, yet 4000 French troops are occupying the country. What is the specific justification? To protect civilian life?
Well you don’t recall because you don’t know anything about what happened in Cote d’Ivoire during the last 2 years.
France and cote d’Ivoire had defence agreements. 2 years ago, the cote d’Ivoire government call the French for help because rebel troops were taking the major cities in the north of the country and the regular IC army was unable to stop them as they were progressing to the south.
France sent 2000 soldiers to stop the rebels before they took Abidjan and the control of the country.
French troops pushed the rebell back to the north and thus, saved Mr president Gbagbo ass and prevented a blood bath in the entire country
Then Gbagbo and rebel leaders accepted to talk to save the peace and eventually a common peace agreement was signed in Paris : “the marcoussi agreements” in which, French soldiers mission was to prevent the 2 sides from fighting again.
Everybody was happy and some rebels were accepted in the govermnent. But in fact, president Gbagbo was just trying to save time in order to buy new heavy weapons (su-25, mi-24…). Former rebels finally had to (were forced to) quit the government and Gbagbo began a strike back military campain with his new toys toward the north, breaking the ceasefire IMPOSED by the UN security council.
During these illegal attacks (breaking of an UN resolution) on the former rebel positions, 2 Gbagbo su-25 strike a french peace-keepers base killing 9 of them (+ 32 wounded)
Therefore, France destroyed these 2 planes + the Mi-24/8 that were breaking the ceasefire for 3 days.
Scared by the very quick french reaction (less than 1 hour) Gbagbo government Brodcast anti-french propaganda on the nationnal TV and radio, asking people to hunt french civilian and to attack french soldiers… (What a brave and good idea 🙁 )
After 2 days of anti-french riots held by the french troops (but with many french house/shops looted), Gbagbo finally appeared on television asking the rioters to calm down and back home…while, at the same time, the national radio was brodcasting anti-french messages
BTW, now, French troops have 2 missions :
1- protect the 15 000 french and european civilians living in the country and possibly evacuate them if necessary.
2- Enforce the actions of UN troops in the country (ie ceasefire)
That is a colonialistic behaviour, that Ivorians lives are less valuable than Serbians
The destruction of the su-25 has been very quick because French troops have a base on the airport where the 2 sukhoï were stationed.
BTW, Nobody have been killed during the destruction of these planes / hello.
The C-160 was at Abidjan Airport.
Quite a colonialistic behaviour by the France, besides probably not wrong, I just wonder what happened if would have been the US to do it
Actually, the french troops are under a UN mandat to protect UN peace keeping troops.
The french have been attacked, the 2 su-25 were destroyed as a self defense action and to enforce the UN resolution.
Most probably special forces.
apparently it was a mistake 😡
Serbia – only country in the world with a “stealth” plane featurued in a museum exibition
not exactly :p
