BTW, the navy 2 seater was also the less capable :

    – it had less internal fuel…so less range
    – no internal gun
    – it was the most expensive version
    – it was not needeed for naval training purposes (the rafale M is very easy to fly and land on an aircraft carrier)

And as for the model posted, interesting camo scheme, but whoever put it together had a few screws loose. Why any aircraft carrying the MICA-EM would need to carry a single AIM-7 is beyond me. You don’t typically go backwards in terms of capability…

Swap the GBU-24 with the centerline tank too 😉

Save your tears for the people in your own personal life, you might run short of them if you use ’em for anonymous pilots in countries far away.

What’s wrong with having a thought for them ? it is not crying AFAIK

i can’t see why we have this collective cry’n’condoleance sessions every time a plane crashes.

may be because these four guys where risking their life every days for their country and the people of this forum want to express their respect for that ?

may be because there is nothing else we can do than have a thought for them and their family ?

Which one pass us the feeling of more maneuverability, power and agility?

I’ve seen both in flight about 15 times each. Honnestly it is difficult to tell because their demos are quite different.

    I would say :

    – maneuvrability : rafale, especially at low speed
    – agility and power : typhoon

but both a/c are very close anyway

See what I meant the cockpit’s pick above ( fom Dassault) is worse for me than those taken from a greek aircraft.

The Dassault picture is from a mirage 2000-5F. MFD are a bit bigger on the mirage 2000-5 MK2

    RAfale 89 millions

Be carefull, this is the GLOBAL unit cost paid by the french tax payer for 234 rafale B/C and 60 rafale M/N

PS1 : The rafale M/N are much more expensive than the B/C so the 60 units of rafale M rise this global cost a bit.

The only visual difference between the Mirage 2000-5 Mk 2 and the existing Mirage 2000EGM/BGM planes is a fixed IFR probe near the canopy.

+the new radome (without pitot probe), the Data link antenna for the mica and the ICMS mk3 antennas on the tail, the new launch pylons under the fuselage for mica missiles 🙂

    # Rafale — currently more than EUR100m fly-away (because there are so few built, projected it should be around EUR50m)

The French governement is about to order the second tranche of 59 rafales B/C F2 for € 3.1 billions.

That means a unit fly away cost of €52.54 millions ($64 millions) for a custumer with an option on 234 aicrafts like the french air force.

NH90 Design and Development Contract on 1st September 1992.
The D&D Contract value, based on the economic conditions of January 1988, is 1376.15 M euros shared as follows:
    – France: 583.07 M euros
    – Germany: 331.00 M euros,
    – Italy : 370.00 Meuros
    – The Netherlands: 92.08 M euros”

yes it’s european, with a strong french accent!

So the D&D contract value is not french at 57.63% 😀
