    RE: Flying in Concorde

I have flown on Concode twice, it’s an incredible experience from start to finish. I’ve not been fortunate enough to take a trip since the re-fit but I have seen the new interior and she looks better than ever. The fares are high but if you’ve got that kind of money or if you are a corporate traveller then it must be the only way to travel. I hope the flagship continues for a long time to come.

    RE: Embraer 145

It’s a nice looking aircraft but not popular with majority of pax, most find it cramped and uncomfortable. No cabin baggage space either, seating config is 1 and 2 with just one overhead stowage locker only just big enough to take a small brief case. I think the CRJ200 has more space for an aircrft of a similar size.

    RE: Air-side Passes

I don’t think it’s quite that easy. I operate from a major UK airport and don’t think airport security would issue an airside pass to anybody that didn’t need it for their job as their company has to provide all sorts of information and references before the pass is issued. Temporary passes are issued to contractors but they have to be escorted at all times.

Not a good day for British Airways. I wish all of my friends and colleagues at BA the very best in the future.

I’m told Emirates are excellant, a friend of mine works for them, she left us last year and loves it, DXB based and having a great time. I haven’t flown with you guys but I hear a lot of good things from our pax. Your A330’s (or A320, can’t remember which)look brilliant to work on too, I’m cabin crew not flight deck but they still look good, we were on stand near you a few days ago. They have one serious wingspan! How come you’re buying tickets to fly BA, couldn’t you use staff travel, I thought EK had joined Oneworld.

Thats fair enough monster, whoever sold you the ticket should have explained the conditions attached to the ticket. I apreciate some of the Club World fares do appear quite high but the ticket you purchased was cheaper then the full Club World fare which allows total flexibility to change as many times as you wish. I believe the Club World product, with the new flat bed etc is the best around but I do understand your frustrastion. I hope you have a better experience if you fly with us again.

In reply to your comments Monster, BA will only charge you if you have purchased a ticket that has those conditions attached. In the past Club World tickets were totally flexible and could be transfered free of charge to any other BA flight (or another airline if the coupon is endorsed over to them). Recently however BA have introduced lower Club World fares that require advance purchase and carry a fee to change them. In general BA Club World pax are given all assistance to make their flight if they are late, after all, they are premium customers and pay alot for their seat. There are very often reasons why a pax is denied boarding, being late at check-in is normally the most common. BA like all airlines overbook flights, if a pax has not checked in by the required time their seat may be given to somebody else. All flights close a certain time before departure, after this time no further pax are accepted and any standby pax may be then accepted. I’m sure BA do appreciate that there are many reasons why pax turn up late at check in and expect their seat to still be there, we all have a bad day every now and then. I can tell you though that there are also many that turn up knowing they are late and use every excuse in the book and blame everyone else. I tend to agree with the comments already made about the airline programme. I know little about EZY but that programme only shows that bad side, pax having tantrums for not getting their way when the problem was probably caused by them in the first place. I’m sure the EZY staff do their best in very difficult circumstances. I think EZY do an excellant job in their market. I’ve watched a few of the previous series about BY, what are some of those people on? I couldn’t believe how many people think they can travel without passports, one guy had even altered his passport by entering his baby son’s name himself!! The travelling public appear to leave their brains at home. Back to EZY, I’ve never flown with them so I can’t really comment on their operation but they must be doing something right to be as successful as they are.

I like all three, KLM livery always looks smart and fresh.

Andrew M, I see you’re in NI, what’s happening at BFS International? I know BA have pulled out and BMI have transfered some services to BHD, who else is still there?

RE: Ariana Afghanistan set to kick off again!!!

I guess it’s only a matter of time before somebody starts services into Kabul again. I believe the UN are putting an awful lot of money into the country to re-build it. Not sure what state the airport is in so I guess they could start there!

An Ariana DC-10 (I think they only had one!) and 727’s were a familiar sight many years ago at the airports I operated to.

I wish them all the best anyway.

Anybody know if Biman still operate to the UK? I’ve always been facinated with the smaller African and Asian carriers.

    RE: Flight deck

I think most airlines now don’t allow flight deck visits. The airline I work for used to at the crews discrection but not since sept 11th. The flight deck door remains locked the whole flight and only the crew has access. Pax have asked on my flights a few times but understand when we have to refuse. It’s a shame beccause it really makes their flight and it’s good PR for us.

    RE: Another scare for Virgin

I agree, these people are really sick. I’m cabin crew with a major UK airline, I can only imagine how the crew and pax must have felt. Well done to Virgin for handling the situation so well.
