Hello Bas, Thank you for the information. I checked ebay.com for completed listings and found one that sold in January for just over a couple of hundred dollars… If only. I heard what you say about exporting too. I guess it’ll be a question of waiting.

I don’t suppose anyone knows where I could find an F-16 stick?

    Hello Martyn,

Thank you for your really comprehensive reply! I have spent a little time looking on the Web for details, and was surprised that I hadn’t come across a site dedicated to the subject…or perhaps I have been looking badly. Anyway, many thanks, Dad was USAF so it’s a subject I’ve always been interested in.

That was the Yakfire as mentioned previously. Both the repeated starboard side front and rear facing shots were from that camera ship and were vastly different from what a spit looks like. The rear facing also had very obvious and clumsy panel lines, tail wheel and protruding trim actuators or whatever they were.

I agree about the storyline from the little ship, strong acting and well shot.

I have to agree, just too empty, of everything. I loved the audio, and even the intensity of the focus on just a few characters, but I feel that films from a long time ago have done a much better job of realism and the visual impact I was really hoping for here. I can’t overlook the technical inaccuracies either, they were just too glaring and left me quite disappointed.

    Hello Geoff,

We popped in briefly, not sure what it was like before so can’t really comment on progress, but it did look like a workshop being used.

NX611, my pleasure, thank you to everyone there for all the work that goes in to making it such an interesting and good venue.

I knew a senior RN Harrier tech who, on operations heading to the Falklands in 1982 would have a Harrier on deck and have to fire up the engine for tests. Apparently the captain was not best pleased as needless-to-say it shifted the course considerably!

Thank you chumpy, never got round to posting the part number. Also found a squashed data plate I’ve just worked out is one of the spinner plates…probably called something else, but it is one of the small plates fixed equidistant on the spinner between each blade. I’ll photograph and post tomorrow…it’s rather nice and was fixed with one last rivet to a small portion of the spinner!

First trial fitting of the elevator with the stabiliser, all lines up well with good gaps. Still some final shaping to do, but a fun moment!

Thank you Ian, for the information and encouragement. We are just starting to organise the finds into labelled trays now, plenty of 30008 parts (wing) so this makes sense too.

    Some parts to identify…

Here are a selection of parts that I’d appreciate any insight into what they might be. No part numbers, apart from the long curvy thing on the left. (I’ll run and get the number in a min), but in the meantime, the other bits seem quite interesting to me, and possible that someone might recognise what they are. The gloss black painted parts are a light alloy.

This shot is interesting; it shows, in order, Interior Green, Exterior Brown, Exterior Green…and then Exterior underside Pale Blue. The reason this is interesting, as I’ve mentioned before, is that it shows that underneath the blue is Black. We have other parts that are White underneath…ie…Black and White as P9374 displays.

    DBenz,

Your information is very interesting indeed. If you could send me that info, I can see if we can get something going with this. We are also after a definitive, detailed drawing for a Mk1a panel, just as P9374 has…just asking! 🙂

    Propstrike,

Yes, I’ve seen his Spit, what an undertaking! Makes me glad we’re not doing ours to fly…!

Thank you Mike. We have a new DT teacher who joined the school this term and he’s pitching in with our evenings now, so no longer am I alone and a one man band. Already making much faster progress. Should mean more up-dates more regularly.

Oh, by the way, I understand that on our website you can opt in for up-dates, and will automatically get an email when new ‘stuff’ is added.

I tend to agree, after all, they aren’t wearing their original wartime paint, that would be a different matter all together. If this is the small price have to pay to have these machines living in the air, where they should, I for one am ok with that. Without wishing to mix up threads, I was at Duxford on Saturday and was blown away by the finale. Sponsorship in one form or another would have helped that to happen.
