Forgive me for taking so long to get some photographs added, I’m having all sorts of trouble trying to upload them. The attachment option just spins it’s wheel for ever, so I’m trying photobucket now…stand by…
Yes, I’ve seen a few Beech 18s in the US, and even been offered a couple over the years, complete, for around $2000, but as always it’s the shipping that stings. oh well, my dream will live on a little longer!

I would almost do anything for that Beech 18 fuselage, but as has already been said…that’s an ambitious price. A shame the wings appear to have been hacked off.
Is there a difference between the canopy rail sliders on early vs late Mk Spits? The reason I ask is because in our many finds boxes/trays I’ve come across what I believe to be a slider, but it looks different to replica ones I’ve seen. Unfortunately I’m struggling to add pics whilst at work, so will drop some in, and of this part, this evening.
Up-date
Hello All,
An up-date on what we’ve been doing: In December we were very fortunate to host some special guests for the presentation of all of the finds from the P9503 dig at Upavon in 2013. Very cool indeed to be the recipients of such important things. As we go through them, and it will take some time, we are already discovering quite a few parts that we can incorporate into our build, so it is very exciting to know that our replica P9503 will have many parts from the original as well. Will up-load pics later today…we had BBC and ITV news crews on the day, made for a change!
All the best
What about any originals left? Surely there must be somewhere?
Thanks Fouga, you pipped me to the post. Yes, I came across a picture of N3200 last night, although the detail on the side on the ‘new’ N3200 shows more bolts/screws than the b & pic above from Mark12 which only shows 2. The only period ones I’ve seen show just 2 bolts.
Thank you Edgar, is there a publication I could find that shows this? The on from 41 Sqn above shows a two-bolt side fixing, but others have 4 bolts per side.
I’ve found this good example. ?.
That looks seriously impressive. Well done to all concerned!
Thank you, they’re doing a great job, and even more so considering that none of them even knew how to hold a saw properly when they started, let alone anything as scary as a jigsaw. Still working to a really tight tolerance, and will soon need to build a jig to begin putting the fuselage together…then it really will start to look amazing!
Ok, here’s a recent picture to show some of the progress we’re making. Since this was taken, we’ve completed the horizontal stab although it is yet to be covered and fitted to the fin. I also need to find a picture for the end rib (Mk1) if anyone has one of those.
Thanks All, I will keep trying. I have some pics in my album here, but have been trying to add more so that I can show up-dates on the Spit project.
