There was a paper published by the US intelligence community I believe which stated five likely scenarios for the future ie. 2030. None of which had a close relationship between China and United States. Yes there is economic co-operation now but that is nothing but a measure against a global catastrophe. Russians sided with the West against the Nazis, Western help was sough with Chernobyl, this is also something that affects the whole worlds and china and America co operating on that means virtually nothing.
So. From another perspective that only means China will be independent from the US with her own interests at mind and not the US’s first. It doesn’t imply what you believe that the US is the sole judge on good versus evil. Like the US has been able to predict who her enemies will be. Not a good record on that one. A country that bows down to every beckon call from the US is just pathetic especially since the US has shown it will dump even longtime loyal allies just to serve her personal interests first.
If you look back at history from the time of Chinese independence to the Indo Chinese war. India stood by China in every move. It did not do anything with the Tibet invasion. It was offered China’s seat in the security council but refused to accept it. The current animosity has a lot to do with China’s insistance in not considering India a strong regional player.
That’s a load of crock. India and the US were smuggling weapons into Tibet well before the Dalai Lama had to flee. Plus it can be argued that India is a agent of Western colonialism. India certainly helped in British ventures throughout Far East and Southeast Asia. India did grow and profit from the opium trade used by the British in trying to destroy countries they wanted to take over.
A lot of the animosity comes from China not giving India the proper respect and considering her as a strong regional player? Well boo-hoo. Does that meaningless gesture really affect India that much? And you don’t hear India vilifying China like you pretty much do? I remember reading something that came from an Indian leader vilifying China and labelling her a threat back when the West was occupying and carving up China. So China at the worst and low point of her history under control of the West was a threat?
With the US track record of allies turning into enemies, India is probable on that list. India has a fanatical religious base that has influence. She has a horrible human and religious rights record. It’s much on par with what is criticized of Islamic countries. China’s population is no where near as radical.
