I am yet to see any single of your ‘knowledgable posters’ post anything regarding the lack of agility of the Block 60. Wing loading or not, Lockheed says its not affected, I am gonna believe them unless you provide me with ample proof that says otherwise. I have been asking for this in most of this thread, and more proof have been given that it do not lack agility. So unless you can prove it lacks agility please stop saying it. There is a post a few pages back comparing all the blocks and their thrust, you may need to check it out.
Higher wing loading = decreased agility. Simple fact and if Lockheed Martin says the earth is a plate you will believe as well, won’t you?:D
Does the Gripen have JHMCS ?
No Gripen pilots wear the more advanced Cobra helmet, where data are presented on the entire visor not just in front of the right eye.
Well if it’s not available it’s not of interest for a comparison if you stick with the given facts. There are a lot of aircraft which could have this or that, but they simply haven’t this or that for different reasons.
The 3000 l drop tank was proposed specifically for the Rafale MK2 export version which had to be canceled due the lack of funds.
Block 52 has it so block 60 can get it just like that
I meant JHMCS. ASRAAM can be integrated in a whisker as well. And if you check the link i gave you in IAF forum its already cleared. But you dismissed it as old ???
Is there any source which suggests that the blk 60 has JHMCS and 9X at all? I mean to remember that no HMS and not even a datalink had been ordered. There is a difference between possible and given reality.
Much better review than they have given the Rafale hmm. So its either more F 16s or EF for Greece ?
We’ll have to wait and see. The results are of no surprise for me however.
Defense-aerospace usually repeat what has been said by the press offices of different manufacturers or airforces.
Anyway I though the MN took delivery of the first F3 standard aircraft in august 2008?
Edit:
Does anybody know if the OSF-IT will get an IR channel in addition to the TV channel? I mean to remember to have heared about something like that.
Fighters, even a small amount of fighters, are necessary for duties such as air policing, dealing with terrorist situations and for sovereignty patrols. SAMs, even the best of them, can’t go up and talk down an errant Cessna or shoot a few shells across the nose of a potential terrosist controlled plane.
A squadron of 15-20 planes can keep a pair of birds on QRA indefinitely. It is a definite necessity.
Exactly, SAMs are mobile and flexibile enough. In peace time what are you going to do, when an unidentified aircraft is entered your airspace and you get no contact? With SAMs you just have the option to shoot or not to shoot. With fighters you can intercept the aircraft and take further actions depending on the situation.
And in a wartime scenario who is providing protection for CAS aircraft and helicopters over the battlefield?
Here a summery of the Rafale achievments in 2008:
