Gorshkov in floating dock. Launch scheduled 29 October.
Any updated information regarding its armament snake65?
Will the new phased array radar be used or it will continue to use Fregat family radar?
Hi,
I have a question regarding research institute and design bureau in Russia. In Russia, is there any bureau/institute that specializes in anti-aircraft system or anti-aircraft related systems that has the translated name in English “Onyx” ?
Thank you.
So. . .do they expect to obtain any real world data without it?
May be they want to make sure that thing can fly well first before making sure that it can do this 😀
Anyway, I think it’s just the 1st flying prototype. The 2nd one will roll out at the end of this year but I heard that not until the 4th one will the prototype receive all the equipment and treatment that close to the level of an initial production aircraft.
Probably emergency thrust for very short duration during combat.
I think 15.5-15.7 tons thrust is the special mode thrust for the current 117 engine.
May be what QuadroFX means is that a new version of 117 with sustainable thrust of 15.7 tons is being tested 🙂
I’ve some doubts about the accuracy of these comparison charts in that video. 17500 kg empty weight sounds incredibly low for an aircraft of that size, with all the support structure for the weapon bays etc. I have some doubts that the PAK FA is about 2t lighter than the smaller F-22, makes not much sense if you ask me.
I’m also a bit reserved about the range claims, 4300 km range on internal fuel and just 5500 km range with one in flight refuelling. If we remember the claims about older Flankers the range difference was much more significant! For example 3000 km for the Su-30 and 5200 km with one IFR or 4200 km for the Su-27M and 6800 km with one IFR, similar for the Su-34. I would actually expect a range around 3500 km at best on internal fuel as the AL-41F1 is more powerful than the AL-41F1S while likely offering a similar SFC. The Su-35s stated range is 3600 km internal fuel, though one would expect a significantly longer range in comparison to the equally sized and not much lighter Su-27 whose range is given with 3680 km to 4000 km. At the same time the Su-35 has a much larger internal fuel load.Edit:
this is becoming ridiculous with the compressor face. The engine actually needs air to breath! How could this be ensured with the compressor face being hidden. given the relative straight inlet. half the compressor face being visible is not to bad and looks reasonable given the intake design.
May be the fuel consumption is lower with the newly developed engine? Regarding the weight I think we need more official information. Hopefully it will come out with the second flying T-50.
@Kiwinopal: the text that Otaku quoted is about two patent fillings or academic paper about the creation of the radar blocker. I think you could easily understand it using google translation 🙂
Medvedev to visit Severodvinsk to see the launch of new submarine
Wasn’t the laungh of this submarine delayed indefinitely due to technical problems?
Also, do we have any pictures of this ceremony?
That is why Viktor Pugachev always performed his cobra maneuver with the engines at idle.
Can you explain more about this djcross? 🙂
Yeah I heard that China has the license to build the airframes but they have to use the avionics and engine from Russia. Do you guys have any other info?
@Type 59: at least in term of size 😀 other things we will have to wait and see :p
Test launches for :
-the 9M96 missile (120km range) of the VITYAZ system (also used on S-300PMU2 Favorit and S-400).
-the 48H6DM long range missile of the S-400.
is 48H6DM is a new missile or it’s the 48N6DM ? Because 48N6DM has been in duty for a while and has range of 250km.
I hope this is the new 400km missile 😎
I am kinda doubtful about navalized J-11. Because after building many Su-27 knock-off-J-11s and acquired T-10K (Su-33 prototype from Ukraine) China still can’t produce it.
They asked Russia for Su-33 and wanted to buy 1-2 first for “evaluation” but they have been rejected so far 😀

…from the top picture it’s clear the sizeable lateral diversion the duct would have to make (irrespective of where the wheel goes) to bypass the MLG cavity- denoted by the underside louvres, there’s also the vertical/diagonal diversion.
Anyone with half a brain can see that.
Do you have a higher resolution version Otaku ? I need it for my wallpaper :p

the door of the under-wing small weapon bay is pretty clear in the picture 😎

8 R-77 and no short range AAMs?
Russia to build submarine-detecting satellite
Russia could build a satellite for the detection and tracking of submarines from space, a defense industry spokesman said on Thursday.
Vladimir Boldyrev, of the Kosmonit science and technology center, said the group had developed a space satellite module that could carry out remote sensing of the sea and “detect submerged submarines.”
“Hopefully, it will be tested in space as early as 2011,” he said, adding that work on the module started over a decade ago.Full Story
How will they detect it I wondered? Will be it be a huge flying sonar/radar in space with nuclear reactor
