thanks for fotos what an aircraft whats the story behind it? i heard it was spitfire design that ended up evolving into an entirly new aircraft is it true it was canncelled in favour of jets? also heard a rumour that one was dismantelled and put into storage at brize norton is this true? would it outrun a tucano? lol
thanks mate, on a similar subect how many halifax bombers are there worldwide? i only know of the elvington one friday 13th
can somone expand on what that article says – its to small to read thanks
about time, i listened jeremy vines radio 2 show this week i cant belive tree hugging objectors still brand our gallant airmen/women of WW2 as mass muderer’s,
one guy rang in to say that they were all guilty of war crimes because of dresden and cologne, i ask where has he been living for 40 years of his life? how can you compare raf aircrew to saddam hussain? this makes my blood boil.
if it wasnt for them we would all be speaking german let him say that face to face to our gallant men of the sky,
and see what kind of a reaction he would get, and what has this guy ever done for this country apart from p**s winge and moan? nothing i bet. such comments from such people should be flushed down the toilet as they are based on nothing but bu**s**t
TO ALL OUR GALLANT AIRMEN AIRCREW PAST AND PRESENT WETHER REGULAR OR RESERVE I THANK AND SALUTE YOU.
does anyone have any fotos of an aircraft known as a supermarine spiteful? does it exist? (and no i dont mean spitfire)
at least BAE are talking about XM603, has anyone spoke to elvington? ( i do not know if elvington is one of those interested parties) no point in cutting her up – nose sections dont fly, i guess there are people who think small stactic displays in museums are better than flying exibits that the whole country can benefit from, hope this wont be the case. not everyone can travel to manchester and who would want to for a nose section kids end up climbing about in?
ok so how do we go about it where do we start?
i dont mind helping either, elvington is 40 mins away from me she would look good next to lusty lindy save her now before she is turned into coke cans
im all too happy to save this almost extinct bird, i live in hull and ive often thought that this plane is in the wrong place but at least they are doing something about it, my dad was an air despatcher and it brings back memories for him. to see this bird turned into coke cans would be a national shame and a local tradgidy, im all too willing to volunteer to save this aircraft lets get off our backsides and do something about it before the gas axe comes calling. and im also a member of the beverley rivet club
ive heard a similar story about the u.s. airforce in the gulf using scare tactics, apparently they were dropping leaflets on the iraqis saying they wre going to bomb their barracks or postions by dropping leaflets, then the next day smashing the iraqi’s positions with laser guided munitions to prove to them that they had total domination of the skies, and it also had the effect of thining out the iraqi defence by generating fear of what was to come. nowt worse than knowing youre going to be bombed and nowt worse than u know its coming ant u cant do anything about it
ive told u before nav, never climb into the cockpit wilst holding pot noodles! you know how bad your shakes get wen uve had too much beer, it maybe the fuel of britain but it takes ages to clean up and i hate beef and tomato.
