what makes it doubly interesting is that it has a sort of RAF history (it was assigned and painted as serial FL461) but diverted back to USAAF as 41-9234
The original RAF number was still visible on fuselage up to some time back..

Hon George Garrow Tomlin Killed at Nazing Aerodrome in Moth belonging to Herts and Essex Aero Club. Aircraft nose dived in to ground from about 1000 feet. There is a Crash report on this at National Archives

He was the eldest son of Lord Tomlin, who was a Lord of Appeal

This light hearted post seeks to know what is it in the national character that lets British and Kiwi’s dress up in old uniforms and do re-enactments.
