I would sincerely hope that the pilot of any aircraft in which I am flying keeps a good lookout towards the runway when landing! He or she doesn’t need to be a veteran either!
Incidentally that’s how I learned to drive, at the age of 14, but on a DISUSED ex Bomber Command airfield, of which at the time you could take your pick in Lincolnshire!

I tried to send a message to Darren Green via his web site but the “Contact me” form on the site doesn’t work!
I just wanted to say that it would be a good idea to point out that the Canberra nose is at the East Midlands Aeropark – people like myself who live abroad don’t know that and a link to the Aeropark web site would be useful.
Now I know where it is I can try to visit during my forthcoming trip to the UK.

I translated their web site into English some months ago, but it still hasn’t appeared on the Internet. Strange . . .
I usually guide the tours (which last 2 hours) on Sundays and Wednesdays at 13:00, and am allowed free entry for one person each time – I would like to extend this offer to all Forum readers. Please see the Aeroseum web site for more details.
We shall be holding Sweden’s major air show on the last weekend in August again, featuring this year the Finnish aerobatic team.
The A-26 is currently parked wrapped up for the winter right outside the Aeroseum, Säve airport, Gothenburg, where I am a voluntary guide. The GV 38 is spending the winter inside the underground Aeroseum.
Don’t forget the GV 38 SE-AHG in Sweden (which provided me with a very pleasant tour of the Gothenburg archipelago 2 years ago)!
From today’s Lincolnshire Echo:
The future of a Lincolnshire air base is secure, the Government’s Defence Secretary has assured Lincolnshire Echo readers.
In an exclusive interview, John Hutton said RAF Scampton will not close once the Red Arrows move and operations are scaled back.
The announcement comes after years of uncertainty over its future.
Mr Hutton said: “The RAF will continue to have a significant presence in Lincolnshire – and that applies to RAF Scampton.
“I can categorically state there are no plans to close the base.”
The Lincolnshire Echo revealed in May last year that the Red Arrows would move to RAF Waddington by 2011.
In the same month, announcements were made that operations at base would be scaled back further by 2014.
But Mr Hutton was unable to add hope for people working at RAF Kirton-in-Lindsey, near Scunthorpe.
“Kirton-in-Lindsey will be shut by 2014 as previously reported,” he added.
The Ministry of Defence confirmed that control centres at RAF Scampton and Kirton-in-Lindsey would relocate to RAF Coningsby.
The control centre operates the remaining Asacs satellite system which controls aircraft deployment and keeps an eye on the sky for rogue pilots infringing British air space.
Cees, did you get my dimensioned photos via E-mail?

Hello Cees, thanks for that information on the seat, I will have to get the Aeroseum to correct the display captions now! The tailwheel was trawled up by a fishing boat and has now unfortunately been “lost”. Rumour has it that it was swapped for something by the Swede who found it to a British person, so it may be somewhere in the UK now. We would love to have it back!
Do you want me to take detailed photos with a ruler in each picture so you can obtain the dimensions etc?
