I think it’s an Aero 45, but I’m still czeching !!!
Nice video, showed the part of the take-off that I couldn’t see!
Thanks, EK.
Incidentally, they were taken from the DHL car park at Landvetter, I drove all the way around the airport and couldn’t find a better spotting spot – there’s a lot of forest in the way and all nearby access roads are barred by locked gates. Great security!
Does anyone know of an accessible spotting spot for Landvetter (Gothenburg) at either end of the runway? If so, please tell!
My source, the Guinness Book of Records 1985 edition, says the Linke-Hoffman R II flew in 1919 at Wroclaw, Poland as an airliner, with 4 x 260 hp Mercedes piston engines driving 22 ft 7.5 in. dia. propellers at 545 rpm.
Thanks, Mike, the same card here in Sweden costs $71, so I’ll wait!
OK, Mike, it’s just that this thread began with the 350D and I assumed (wrongly) that eveything in it referred to that camera!
Incidentally, should I wait until I get to the USA before stocking up on memory (1 Gb cards)? I again assume that they are more expensive in Sweden (or the UK) but may be wrong – can you tell us all what a 1 Gb card costs over there where you are please?
Back from the website – it looks as if 1.0.3 is the latest version after all, dating from October 2005, false alarm!
The spec. for the camera says it will take 2 Gb cards, anyway, I just don’t have such a card!
My new EOS 350D has Version 1.0.3 firmware (I just checked) and it’s straight out of the box! Perhaps it’s been sitting on a shelf for 3 years or more!
Off to the Canon website now to see if I can upgrade the firmware!!!
We can all opinionate till we’re blue in the face, but it’s the top management (in the sponsors’, HLF and Vulcan organisations) concerned who have to make these decisions, so partly due to their lack of openness, everything here is mere speculation and in some cases “pour encourager les autres”.
Thanks, Andy, for putting things into perspective.
This I think ties in with my question earlier about Felicity Irwin (who is the organisation’s chief PR person) being on holiday instead of chasing major sponsors at this very critical time, i.e. she should be trying to find those who could put a big dent in the £1,000,000.00.
Former Air Chief Marshal Sir Michael Knight, the chairman of the project’s trust, who commanded the bombers in the Falklands conflict, said . . . the plane is expected to fly displays for the next 15 years. . .The Vulcan was a “masterpiece of British design” and the aviation equivalent of Brunel’s SS Great Britain . . .
There you are, Mike, from the “horse’s mouth”!
See you at Reno
I seem to remember the tail fell off . . . I believe it was an Airbus . . .
What’s the matter, Ollie, the link worked for me – don’t forget to click on the “FUNDRAISING” button at the left!
38 years ago in Bahrain – BOAC livery, but still a VC10!
(Come to think of it, it was probably Gulf Air)
Wouldn’t have thought the pop-up flash was much use!
Last time mine popped up in such low light conditions, I cranked up the ISO instead.
What kind of lens is that, by the way?
