Graphite is a good conductor and used for brushes in electric motors and dynamos.
Despite my remarks in post #14, Flight has now bitten the bullet and is offering cutaways as part of its digitised archive project:

Wot no pix?
Here is the C-17A that came to the Såtenäs celebration of the 80th anniversary of the Royal Swedish Air Force.
There is at least one very good side-on photo on airliners.net clearly showing the Acqua Limone logo . . .
Manston Airport, I must say that on both my visits to the USA, 3 weeks each in 2003 and 2004, I was treated with the utmost courtesy and consideration, including a genuine Oshkosh baseball cap for sparing a few minutes of my time to help someone, and on another occasion being given lunch at the home of our tour coach driver, not to mention an hour long spin on one of his 4-wheel drive “chariots” when he invited me to his home the following year.
Not all Yanks are ungrateful, by any means!
SE-LYD
I would guess that this Diamond Star has a 3-blade prop – perhaps 1/125 is a bit too fast, since I don’t have a complete propeller arc, though -any comments? I like the sparkle from the sun on the highlights, but perhaps that is “unprofessional”?
Bentwaters was also a problem!
Auto Servo does what it says on the tin – it keeps checking and correcting focus on moving objects – very handy when you’re dealing with aeroplanes!
Mind you, you do have to have a lens that is compatible with this function.
It’s all in the manual, as I say!
However it won’t help if you have camera shake (as I seem to have quite often). About 2/3 of my pix today had to be scrapped due to that pesky shake, I blame mostly the fact that I am not used to a front-heavy camera but I’m working on it, and hope for a few more days of nice weather and more practice panning on the light aircraft at Säve.
Sorry, RobAnt, I didn’t notice that it was you asking the Tv question – anyway, perhaps mantog can use the information I posted!
Incidentally, since I’ve only had the 350D for 3 days, I would appreciate any advice from those who have had theirs longer!
The settings I am using result from my trial and error – it’s all good practice.
To save you the trouble of searching . . .

It’s the poor old Lightning that regularly comes up here – try searching for Balderton or Lightning.
In post #1 mantog mentions a Canon 350D.
Tv is shutter priority AE (Auto Exposure), explained on page 82 of the manual (you do have a manual, I hope! I downloaded mine from the Canon web site, as the version I got was in German!)
Tv is one of the settings on the round dial on top of the camera, along with A-DEP, M, Av and P.
You have to go into the menu to set the servo auto-focusing, after pressing the AF part of the 4-way (arrow) button, the one with SET in the centre. This is on page 71 of the manual.
So far I have read the manual about 5 times from cover to cover, but then I am a technical author and write that kind of book!
I must say however that compared to my “old” Minolta Dimage A1 the controls on the Canon are far easier to find and use!
Canon EOS 350D
I’ve had my new Canon for 3 days now and been practising like mad at Säve (some pix on the Airline images sub-forum).
This one used the Tv setting at 1/125 shutter speed and I am very pleased with the results. I use the auto focus servo mode.
I have never had camera shake before but am getting it now, hence all the practice!
The lens is a Sigma 55-200 mm zoom and is I think just right for me, it came with the camera as a package here in Sweden.
all the practice is to get ready for my Reno trip – I always thought my pix were pretty good, but this camera is a revelation! However even after several years practice with panning at air shows I find I have to sharpen up, perhaps old age is creeping up on me!
