Please don’t let this one incident deprive you of your sense of civil morality – if only the rest of the public could take such action as you did!
Incidentally the till operator should have asked him to open his rucksack, as standard procedure – I hope the shop manager learned a lesson from this and will warn his staff to be more aware. My first wife was a store detective, and even when she was off duty and out shopping with me, she almost always caught someone shoplifting, just by being observant!

Book now ordered, James with 8 weeks estimated delivery delay. What’s happened to the UK postal system? I used to get parcels (usually books) arriving here in Sweden from the UK within 5 days!

I didn’t know there was one, James but I hope I will soon have a copy! Abe books is my usual supplier so I’ll scout around. Many thanks for the tip.

Same request from me – my father served on HMS Eagle both before and during WW2.

    It carries a lot of propellers for a jet . . .

I was at MAKS with you, Ken, sat next to Colin on the bus. I’ve never been so cold in August in all my life! The security checks were thorough – they even confiscated the fruit juice drink I got from the hotel!

I have an almost identical picture, we must have been standing within yards of each other! The only decent photo I managed to take at MAKS, which I found to be a great disappointment. No more expensive trips to Moscow for me!

The Cops TV show we see here in Sweden seems to show that a Taser (Tazer?) is very effective and far less dangerous.

I haven’t been there for over 20 years myself, but I seem to remember reading somewhere that there is a ban on tripods. I had that problem at Kbely Museum, and then had the audacity to stand on one of the guards’ chairs to get a better angle! What a hullabaloo that caused!

“Get to the bottom of this issue”

Is this a joke? I can’t believe an official said that!

Some arrests have been made, but not apparently of any of the estimated 10 who carried out the coup. The helicapter had been stolen from Norrtälje and was discovered north of Stockolm several hours after; police had arrived at the scene while the robbery was in progress but could not get up to the roof before it had departed. Definitely the makings of at least a Discovery Channel or National Geographic documentary here!
