    Dont forget the thousands of “Boy entrants”who trained there!I was one joining in 1958 for a 18 month course as a Elect mech (air).Had my first flight there in a Anson and a second one a couple of weeks later thanks to some Aux pilots who thought we were part of the cadet queue!!.The workshops were good and you could watch all the diferent types landing from your classroom!!There was a YMCA opposite the “Astra”next to the water tower ,always popular ,I remember you could trade new stamps for doughnuts and tea!!Joined the band which got you of saturday squarebashing and to various football matches and garden fetes!!Left in December 1959 and went straight to Ballykelly ,the real Air Force!!!!

    MK 2 panels

    MK2 panels were matt black,at least they were when I left BKY in Sept 1961!!

    A few years back (2006)I worked near a Brasilian city called Porto Alegre and most saturday nights we ended up in a night club called Sgt Peppers with a sound alike Beatles outfit!!Really good place if you ever get down that way!

    Names

    No names when I worked at BKY!However I was on 8 Sqdn in Aden and I am sure if we named Hunters they would have been very different names from Magic Roundabout ,mostly they would have been shouted in a loud voice beginning with B….y things!!

    Does this mean trains with more carriages,more people standing for three hours?Maybe a faster coach service from heathrow that can do it under five hours?This is REAL plymouth city council at work,all with thier heads in the 1960s!!!!!!!!!Mind you they did build a by-pas so people could get to Cornwall quicker!!!

    Says a lot when a little town like Newquay can have an airport but a “city”like Plymouth cannot.Shame on all concerned with its downfall,now not even a second rate city.

    Sutton harbour holdings will make money as will the city council but this will turn the clock back(even further )for Plymouth as a city.Short sightedness on a large scaleas in so many things the city council do,or rather have not done.
