    I know I have asked before but here goes again!Everone remembers the “Abingdon display”but there was also a 50th at RAF Oakington attended by Princess Margaret,Now does any one have details of that one!I was there at the time and worked hard getting ready for it and helping the arrival of all sorts of vintage types so come on!!Some one out there must remember it?!!!

    Have to admit I still do write letters to friends and use E mail!!!Facebook seems entirely superflous as far as I am concerned.Half the time its just utter drivel !!

    Flew from Marseille on a Caravelle about 1979 and remember that the seats faced each other!

    Location

    This is the approach to U Tapao airport about 120k south of Bangkok.Used to be USAF base during the Vietnam era,now has Thai air force and also Thai airways maintenence facility.

    Tracker

    I worked at Guantanamo bay in the early 90s and a dive buddy came across a tracker 37 metres down .It became a popular dive ,looked like both engines failed after take off parachutes still there all hatches missing.Was told it crashed sometime in the 70s and the pilot later died as a result of injuries during the crash.I have video somewhere and not very clear photos!

    National service need not neccessarily be all military based,after induction and square bashing there could be trade training in the various industries that no longer have apprentiships,This would benefit the country more usefully and still have people who could be used in a military context,we still have the royal elect and mech engineers dont we?

    I do not recall Varsities being turned over by hand.Only so many blade turns on the starter then ign on and wait for the big Blue cloud!!Average days flying took @15 gallons of oil to replenish!!
