years ago in another England
About 1986ish I had occasion to chase the kid fron next door who would throw pebbles at my car and look at you staring at him through the lounge window. One day I had had enough of the little sod(about 11 years old)so I chased him up his garden until he ran inside shouting “I ll kill you you little sh.. etc .10 mins later the local panda bobby pulls up,I offered him tea and we sat and chatted awhile, finally he says really you shouldnt threaten him like that so I will go and put some fear into him!!That was the end of it ,what would happen today?!!!

Emirates
Read the forums on Pprune for info from the horses mouth!Sorry Pilots!
Plenty of people have Video cams now and very good they are!Maybe a joint effort could be raised to do a survey ?Summer only of course! Then a program around a dig?Should get some financial gain from it to assist in the project?
for those familier with the area,I used to cycle from Spaldwick to Kimbolton to catch the ” Brooklands” bus each morning and return in the evening .During rainstorms I would shelter in the remains of the old American base ,these buildinds were next to the road and some had graffiti from WW2 in them .Did anyone else see them ?If so were they photographed or?No I didnt have a camera then !!
U tube has lots of extraordinary landings!
Brooklands
I worked for Brooklands there in 68/69 and we were doing Varsities, one was used for Autoland trials, the last one I serviced before leaving for bigger and better things!!The airmans mess was still in use then as a subsidised canteen.I mentioned on another thread that all the junk was thrown outbehind the hanger so might be a good place to look.We had(by law!)an ancient fire engine and a canvas covered “Blood wagon”!!On one occasion a test flight was in progres and there was a problem with the U/C which was eventually solved,no good for us as our bus driver was on board!!He was also the inst engineer!!B cold working in that hanger though!
Cockpit
Canadair CL-215?
Buried parts
If you look at the attached photo,in the background amongst the trees is an air raid shelter. There were also a lot of small mounds which may or may not contain parts.Waiting for someone with a metal detector to investigate!! I cannot as I am overseas!Site is the North western end of Oakington. There was also a fire dump at the west end of the runway (now dug up and gone!Worked as a civvie at Brooklands site Little Staughton(near St Neots)and all the duff stuff was thrown behind the hangar there and there was quite a mound of parts there, worth a look if you can get to it!
The shadow of the wing makes it look like late afternoon(wingtip to end of shadow)but the whole shadow looks like about midday?
Ground crew
I trust the said Spitfire will be suitably scruffy and the cowlings covered in soot behind the exhausts with the odd drops of oil here and there also behind the gun ports!Uniforms would have been non too clean either and as for overalls hope you get authentical oily sweaty ones!
two more
Two more south east of Bangkok on Sukhumvit road, one in a filling station and another in a heavy equipment yard.Probably more lurking about somewhere!C-46 fuselage in a tech college in Udon Thani, maybe the rest is there somewhere!
whirlwinds
Is there information on whirlwind crashes or missing ones in the UK?
St Mawgan
Best memory.Flying with Brymon to Heathrow, the twin otter was on hold and peering out the window an AEW shack landed. This was the last time I saw a Shack flying! As ex coastal(204)it brought a lump to my throat!!Only other time was in 1960 on a mobility exercise from BKY when 6 of 204 stayed overnight and departed next noon after trying to drown out the AOCs parade!!
