BNP
It would be interesting to see how many BNP members belong to “White Eagle “clubs, thats the polish expats clubs that where started after WW2 by Poles who remained behind to work in the UK rather than return home.We had quite a few as neighbors back in the 50s and they are nice people.I realise that things are different today but are they not in the EU and entitled to work here?

Airlines
To many but heres a couple of interesting ones!”Fandango airlines”,Fort Lauderdale to Guantanamo bay(1990),also “Air Sunshine”,same route,it took 3 1/2 hours in twin egined Cessnas(?).I frequently got to sit in next to the pilot(only one!!)which was rather nice.On one occasion on approach to fort lauderdale I spotted a plane head on to us and we had to take avoiding action,a real near miss, amazing how fast two aircraft close on each other!!
Same firm different aircraft!Probably62/63 at RAF Khormaksar taxying past 8 Sqdn dispersal.
Slats an flaps
while at St than I frequently saw a Single Pioneer flying as our classroom was adjacent the runway, occasionally in very strong winds the Single pin could be seen going backwards !
extra engines on the Shack
Are there any ex Shack people out there who remember testing the Petrol driven heaters?Worked ona ram air principle and had a combustion chamber into which petrol was sprayed and ignited and the heat generated was transfered to an outer chamber to heat and distribute the warm air around the cabin .There where two if I remember correctly ,one in the galley and one in the nose and starting them while airborne was an experience. So how much thrust was generated by them?!!!OK tongue in cheek stuff!!I hope they do get one flying ,I will try to be there for the occasion!
cold war etc
couple of pictures of the Valient shortly after arrival! There was a comment on the Neptune being in there.Heres a list of maritime a/c from 1960 during the cold war that were on exercise at RAF Ballykelly.Shackeltons of course,Neptunes both Dutch and U.S.A. Venturas from Portugal,German Gannets ,Canadian Argus”s and a Norwegian Catalina. There may have been others.I did have occasion to visit the Operations room before a Gibex and was astounded at all the little red markers”what are they”? Russian submarines was the reply!!There where an awful lot.So do you still think the neptune should be taken out?
Cold war
Thanks !!Have not been to the exhibition yet, last time I was there was 2004 and the hanger was just going up,there was a Shackelton at Cosfrod some time ago. This photo was taken about 1981,wonder what happened to it?
Cold War second hangar
I suppose the Hastings(met flights etc!) and Shackelton (something to do with Submarines!)will go in the second hanger being built then?!!!!Also the varsity (training pilots for the cold war!!
