Had two on a shack(mk2)and each had a privacy curtain to pull round yourself! The chemical if I remember rightly was called Racasan and was blue. Now in turbulence (most of the time in a shack)you would end up with a “ring of fire”as Racasan did sting!!On a long flight they would get full and permission to dump was sought from the captain and down one of the flare shutes it all went!!!
Why not do one of the first “Battle of Britain”? 15th August 1940 when 100 plus Luftwaffe aircraft tried to bomb North East airfields?Remember this?

Actually I should stop refering to the place as a scrap yard as its now something entirely different. There is a shop that sells ex mil clothing and other stuff while towards the rear of the shop are cockpit components ,instruments ,panels, radio bits etc.Outside at the road side is a restaurant with an airframe on a pole and behind this is a kind of antique vehicle area. There is also a thriving jeep/Humvee restoration area!!
Is that a Beverley in the background?
The “Bangkok post”is a good read!
If your family are all local to you then you can readily access records,if there is a distance problem as I had then I had to pay a researcher who was very good.Eventually I could get no further without visiting a locality many miles from so this will be done in the near future.Oh yes, talk to the oldest family people and get all the info they can remember before its to late!!

“Jacatra” or should it be Jakarta which was Batavia?
I served there ,61-63 Loved the beginning with everyone enjoying themselves in the ocean and lounging by the beach. However at the sharp end 8 sqdn Hunters for about 4 months were the only hunters there and we worked non-stop to keep them serviceable ,not a pleasant place although some of my old colleagues see Aden through rose tinted specs!!I did see an ex 8 sqdn Hunter in Hendon some years ago .There are no Maritime shackeltons preserved ,only AEW with the radar removed and long bomb doors fitted!
Well,it was along time ago(1959/61)!!I was on RAF Ballykelly for almost two years on 204 sqdn and enjoyed every minute of it! It felt like the real air force!!Coastal I mean!I have a few anecdotes you can have ,have you tried the association? The magazine has many stories which they may allow you to use?
