Is the bird coming out of the shackleton knicking the wiring or just nesting in there ?

The hercules is a mystery though as it has US markings but no tail code either that or it mistook Duxford for Cambridge airport ?

Herc was 95831 looking at my other pics? Mean owt?

As for the starling, good question! They seem to be nesting in there.

    Great Pics……

Anyone know if anything is happening of note at Duxford on Monday (30th April)? Dad’s birthday so might take him.

Only reason I ask is for my own birthday the other half says “do you want to go to Duxford?” and I replied that I didn’t think much would be happening on a Friday.

Promptly missed that Spit’s “first” flight after restoration.

    PM if you like.

    Thanks

Slightly off topic but I saw it a few months back over Peterborough in formation with three Typhoons..have the photos popped up of this anywhere?

Firstly, thanks to those who gave helpful responses…sorry for the lazyness in coming on here as I live in the same village as where the a/c is described as coming down, so getting out on foot and making enquries won’t be too hard.

I was reluctant to name the pilot and aircraft for fear of spoiling someone elses “fun”, nevertheless from the webowner of the littlefriends site I have been told the following:

440802 NELSON, STEPHEN J P-51D 44-13832 (South west of) WERRINGTON, PETERBOROUGH

The aircraft crashed while climbing out from Kingscliffe on an ground attack mission to “assorted targets in France”. Spun in.

I took a photo of the pilot’s grave randomly at Madingley then thought I would look up his name. Hence where I am now. His great-niece is also conducting research from the U.S.

    Regards
