How safe would it be ground running a Vampire that is stored outside for the majority of the year?
Although you could put covers over the pod to keep direct water off it would the damp not store within the structure weakning it somewhat ?
Ive heard that the break down of the airfix 1/24 offering suggests a bomber nosed version with later stage merlins and poss bulged bombay at a later date.
would a slightly slimmed down B.B.M.F. with maybe P7350, AB910, PM631 staying alongside the rest of the flight because of their individual historical statuses and to represent Spitfire development, and MK356 or PS915 or TE311 sold off to appease the bean counters, with a small reduction in flying hours? They had to sell PS853 to defray the costs of rebuilding LF363 a few years ago. . .
Equaly would selling of some airframes mean that if aircraft went u/s the BBMF wouldn’t be able to fulfill its display commitments because of a smaller pool of airframes to use?
That would Im sure then give the politicians another way of saying that the BBMF isn’t offering value for money by being able to perform its role.
I think they are, which is one of the reasons I think we are taking a leap backwards for mankind. Didnt the UK toy with the idea of a ‘Space Shuttle’? IIRC I think it was call HOTOL or something.

Yes we did. I remember there been much better imagery than used on this wiki page though.
Altrite its only a model of a Wyvern however…………………
Canadian, was ex Cranfield
This is now down under ?
Perhaps Matt Wilkes will be using the funds from its sale to start re-imbursing the Black Mike monies once he’s done eating Porridge ?
What happened to the Victor and Sea Harrier owned by him ? Are they still his and will they be used to retrieve misappropriated funds ?
Good luck with the Chippie. Looks a lovely project 🙂
The Beech Restorations guys at Brunty where also restoring an example that was used in the film.
I purchased a copy of Lancaster survivors just before Christmas and was terribly disappointed with it. Nothing in it that can’t be sourced very easily on the www and in better detail :apologetic:
That would be brilliant if you could 🙂
Jesus, I often wonder what they are going to get up to next to scrape some cash in.
For those unable to afford the unique hands on Vulcan experience there is a cheaper option. For a payment of £50 you get the privilege of dispensing morning and afternoon cups of tea and the ultimate honour of making dinner for the VTTS team.
At the risk of crashing this thread………..does anyone have pictures of any of the nose art worn during the film. I have a model decal sheet that seems at odds to the limited glances you get in the film.
I have no desire to own a replica Spitfire but what kind of price do they go for ? Is there much of a demand to own a fullsize replica Spit by anyone other than RAF stations that want a gate guard. Apologies if it seems as though I’m trolling just genuinely intrigued by something that I perhaps wrongly view as an oddity.
Has Llandudno Air Show been mentioned ?

I know what you mean The Bump. I think we are probably in a period where everything is better documented than ever before in terms of photographs. Wish I had a camera the very first and to date only time I sat in a Spit.
Many thanks to all that have shared photographs. Great period images.
