A thread has been running on UKAR forum recently discussing the differing displays flown by each of XH558s pilots. Whithers is the captain that displays the most mundane and uninspiring displays according to the contributors of the thread. I’ve not seen 558 yet this year so haven’t an opinion.

I wonder how many if any will make it into preservation. I have heard that they are due to go through a RTP programme like the Tornado F3s.

My concern is that if they are as expensive as people are hinting at how do the non Nationals Musums afford such prices for what are important airframe types in UK Cold War history ? The airframes are now at the mercy of private collectors and their possible whims. (I dont intend to insult private owners with that statement I just know not all who can afford may know how to care or have the long time desire to)

Obviously a lot of people know what the price the dealers mentioned are charging for Harriers & Phantoms, but can someone give an idea to the asking price ? Just curious rather than a potential buyer. Thats unless the numbers come out on Sat night :diablo:

It seems as though the Spitfire link was there from the start.

19 Sqdn (Albeit RAF) was the first to operate the Spifire.

If said staff had been stealing, fighting or a multitude of other crimes I would have little sympathy. They were chatting to each other. Hardly crime of the year.

Whilst not condoning their behaviour it is making me think do I wish to work for a company with these morals.

Thank you Moggy. I sadly thought what you have said would be the case.

It is a little over 24 hours since the accident where a young man with a wife, family and friends tragically lost his life giving the public enjoyment.

We obviously live in a free world but sometime’s there needs to be a time and a place for certain discussion. Some would call it self moderation.

I find it incredibly poor taste that a discusison on the future of the Reds has been raised so soon after the incident.

Yesterday the forum showed the good part of what can happen. Many people paying respect to Red 4 which was quite touching.

    This thread…………………….poor form old chap.

Already come across that one when it was a flyer. Not sure if it was the same airframe or not. It wore teeth when it was grey. Thanks for the link. A reminder I really need to go someday.

Would leasing an aircraft be an easier option ?

Isn’t the Classic Flight Devon operating with another company from Goodwood for the summer ? Maybe something similar could be done with a Dak.
