I was at MAN all day, with no obvious local weather issues at the time you mention.

Flights were delayed during the evening due to CB build up in the region, making departures unsafe.

bmi maybe pulling a fast one.

What is the best time to bag the 75’s on the deck together?

Gary and I were at LBA yesterday morning, and soon realised from the arrivals on the LBAI website that there were no arrivals for 2 1/2 hours, so we gave up and drove to MAN. Pleasant 100 mile round trip on the M62 for no reason. I suppose i should have checked arrivals before i left home, although i never thought of LBA as being that quiet.

By the time we got to MAN it was chucking it down and we had missed the Qatari.

The AVP breakfast and lunch made up for the dismal aircraft activity.

I read somewhere the APB winglets start horizontal and end vertical following a constant arc. Now that could look pretty cool head on!

I used to go to this spot with my family when i was young. In those days security was not really an issue, and families would sit on the grass watching the aircraft through the simple fence.

Nowadays, you will get moved on by a bunch of storm troopers in a transit.

    Hi Guys,

You will need to hire a car at PMI to get the other side of the active.

When leaving the airport follow the signs towards Palma town and take the first exit off the main road once passed the end of the runway. Take the first junction off the exit roundabout and then the first right after about 30 yards into what seems like an industrial area. You will immediately hit a mini roundabout; take the second to last exit and follow the road around to the right until you reach the runway.

This is the entrance into the military part of the airport, although the security are happy as long as you do not drive past the no entry signs. You can however walk past the signs and access the bank on the left which would elevate you high enough for photography.

WARNING. This area is used by many local drug adicts to get there shot and as such the floor is littered with used syringes. Some very bizzarre locals can patrol this area, thus i would recommend a car. I would not want to be trapped on foot by some of them.

It is a fantastic airport where you will make a third of the Air-Berlin fleet every day.

    Enjoy.

Hi Phil, yes the Skyservice has spent many an hour sitting on the deck at Manchester awaiting its next set of MyTravel ‘bucket and spaders’.

I am attaching a shot from the otherside. The cowlings are a real mix of blue and orange.

From experience it can take anything upto 90 minutes to transit through LHR.

Never have understood why i queue at MAN to get airside, fly to LHR and then queue again to get from airside to airside to continue the journey.

I suppose it is the old English passtime standing politely in a line again.

Cologne is a fairly cheap option with HLX. Good viewing facilities although photography is through glass. Having said that so is MAD. Cologne is getting very busy now with german LoCo’s and the Luftwaffe 310’s are based there.

With the new terminal and runways in use, MAD traffic will be split in two and difficult to ID everything from the old terminal eating area. Very orange and red. MAD is reasonably priced to get to and hotels are not badly priced if you dont mind a taxi journey away from the airport.

Having been on a ZRH ramp tour i can highly recommend it. In summer you get transported to the the remote terminal, to sit in the middle of the action. Local hotels are expensive. ZRH is not easy to get to from regional UK.

AMS is an all time favourite. ‘easy’ to get to from most of the uk with good facilities and reasonably local hotels. Shame is all blue.

Why dont we just go to Miami?
