So, at the risk of dragging the subject of a fly-in back to the fore, it would appear that there are a few of us free on April the 1st; appropriately enough.
Where are we going to head for?
Hi Janie
It was a pleasure, as expected, indulging in a little girlie bondage together. I am told that said ATCO was a little thin on top to start with, so after the burns have settled down, nobody will notice the difference. I trust that the written apology did the trick?
First of April works for me too.
Thank you Janie. I fear that DBW may have been confused by reports of my colleague at Leicester. Most chaps seem to think that between Suzanna and I, I am by far the prettier. Suze is indeed rather larger than I am, but I still think that referring to her as hairy is a cheap shot. She takes her waxing quite seriously.
I will confess though DBW (I feel we know one another so well now), it is true that some terrible reporter in the Sun referred to poor old Suze as looking a bit like a Transvestite. “Trinny and Tranny”, was the typically unkind headline.
It took two weeks to persuade her to emerge from the Ladys’.
Now… to the Fly-in. Are we off to visit the hetros in Norwich (not a phrase you get to use a lot), or can people be persuaded to fly somewhere where there is something interesting to see and do?
Is it possible that you are taking yourself just a little too seriously DBW?
I’m confused
Well of course you are.
Poor old DBW! You really know how to hold a grudge! I must admit, I had to look quite hard to remind myself why you feel so hard done by.
I think that the time has come to get over your little problem. So you missed the big thread with the obvious title “LEICESTER FLY-IN” and asked where the Fly-in was…. So you got teased a bit. Worse things happen at sea.
I hope that you and the “fun guys” get over your little hissyfit soon. There is a lot to be said for female company once you macho types have calmed down, lowered the testosterone levels and remembered that this is supposed to be a fun pastime – not a competition.
Now cut the macho crap please, there’s a dear.
They are a seriously ugly bunch aren’t they 😉
Sadly the 25th/26th has become a non-starter for me. Perhaps you could extend the invitation to DBW and his friends now 😀
The Moller actually has eight engines, two per nacelle.
In the likely event that it is certificated under FAR 23, it will be exempt from engine-out climb performance restrictions by virtue of its weight. There are no other FAR 23 engine-related requirements which would necessarily be limiting for the aircraft.
they generally require 100hrs or more before they will insure you
Not at all. Don’t be put off Neal H. Some groups reduce their premiums slightly by ruling out pilots with fewer than 100 hours. The actual effect of admitting a pilot like you will not be that much, provided that you are subjected to training by a suitable instructor.
Nor in Trinny’s either, because she was landing something with a different set of approach parameters!
Thank you Keble! We would certainly have come off the end of 04 under any but quite extreme circumstances. As it was, I was quite pleased with the stopping distance on 10. Those lift-dumpers do make a difference.
The Jodel is a fine aircraft and I would have no particular reservations about buying into one. They do come with more than their fair share of engineering Gotchas though so make sure you don’t just take the word of existing group members. Get an independent engineering survey done (cost around £150) before parting with any money at all.
What type of taildragger is it? That will definitely have a bearing on the advice you receive. There is nothing wrong in principle with buying an aircraft at this stage in your flying career, but you wouldn’t want to end up with something like a Maule for example
Trinny, my previous employers, Du Pont, might contest your advice. Nomex is several orders of magnitude better than natural fibres for fire protection. Looks good on Michael Schumacher as well!
Ozplane, I like to make my advice accessible to the general mass of people who read this forum. Nomex is exceptional (I wear 5.5g Nomex myself) but it is a bit pricey for some of the riff raff. If you apply that filter, the general advice to wear natural fibres is good.
Keble Martin (or anyone else that knows): Would you happen to know the distance between the 10 threshold and the 15/33 intersection?
Janie, using little more than a ruler, the AIP and the gift of “maths” I calculate the distance to be around 313 metres.
I have some lime green polyester which might work, what do you think?
Polyester always worries me in aircraft. Perish the thought, but should your little Airtourer ever burst into flames, Polyester will melt onto you in double-quick time. Stick with natural fibres; so often the right advice.
