LCA may get Kaveri engine by 2006 end
Addressing presspersons on the proposed Aero India 2005, he said the indigenously built Kaveri engine, which had undergone ground and high altitude testing, will be fitted on a Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) by the end of 2006 or in the first quarter of 2007.
Mr. Natarajan said a multimode radar (MMR) had been developed and is being tested on a Light Combat Aircraft.
The MMR allows safe flight down to a 100-foot set clearance at night, in adverse weather, and in high-threat environments. It lowers the probability of detection by enemy forces.
What does this mean?

There are extremist everywhere… Just like nationalists. So when a few arabs bomb westeners all the other islamic are wrong? Agree there are some people in Pakistan that are not extremely happy with westeners but would you be happy if you wanna pay cash and buy some defence but they are not intrested in selling? Or even sell soyabeans? The anti western mood is not deep rooted and is a result of stupid western behaviour. Now some are linking it to terrorism. In these days it is perfectly normal for states to eradicate groups and tell others they are terrorists… What a wonderful world.
Yes there are extremist everywhere, but Pakistan under Zia encouraged extremism. This policy of breeding extremism was continued by Dictator Musharaff who seized power through a millitary coup. Infact Pakistan is the epicentre of terrorism.
Where did the taliban and Al-queda originate form? who were the supporters and beneficiaries of such movements? The anwer is simple, it is the state of Pakistan and its military dictators. They encouraged extremism to benifit themselves, whether it was Kashmir or Afganistan.
Now why would any one want to sell advanced weaponry to a country which breeds extremism, is ruled by dictators, where democracy is not allowed to take its root, where the general are constantly threatening there neighbours with war, where 20-30 percent of budget is spent on buying arms, where a F-16 was provided to China for reverse engg….
Hell you should be happy they gave you some soyabeans in return.
India hikes military spending by 17.91 percent in 2004-05
India will hike military spending by 17.91 percent to 770 billion rupees (16.73 billion dollars) for the financial year ending March 2005, Finance Minister Palaniappan Chidambaram announced Thursday.
Chidambaram said the increase had become “neccessary” because of low hikes in defence spending in previous years and because of a massive acquisition programme planned by the armed forces
Singapore to train its armed forces in India
Singapore will train its air force and army units in India for the first time later this year as part of a defence cooperation deal signed between the two countries, Defence Minister Teo Chee Hean said on Thursday.
The Republic of Singapore Air Force units will start training in India by the end of this year, while the Army will commence its exercises early next year, Teo Chee Hean was quoted as saying by a newspaper in Singapore.
The Singapore Air Force servicemen would undergo training in camps in India run by the SAF on long-term leases, it said.
if drops of water keep falling on a stone……one day the stone is crushed
Well, the number of dams we are building on rivers assigned to you under the IWT, it will be you pakistanis pleading for those precious drops of water! π π
Next Pakistani thread
” Can a F-16 be built from spare parts purchased” π
And you should stop making fun of them.
Posters like Sd-10, PAF fan et al need a dose of reality, which has to be administered.
Just because you two are traditional rivals does’nt mean that you can keep comparing militaries on a similar basis.
So where lies the contradiction?
Each country has it’s own requirements carefully charted out from it’s own experience and financial situation. I suppose you expect them to buy Su-30MKIs? Even if they could, the changes and improvements needed overall, is not feasible.
You are the next Einstien arent you.
They have to keep their ops small scale. π Perhaps if they had Bangladesh as a part of them, they could afford to add state of the art equipment too, as they did in the 60s.
The quote of the day. LOL π
Pakistani posters need to get a dose of reality -:
In dollars terms Indian defence budget has climbed to US Dollars 13.5 billion, from last yearβs defence budget of dollars ten billion. The increase of 3.5 billion dollars is equal to the entire defence budget of Pakistan.
http://www.defencejournal.com/2000/june/blitz.htm
This was in the year 2000 in FY 2003-04 the defence budget is around 15bn, and a Rs 25,000-cr Non-lapsable defence modernisation fund has also been created.
The defence budget of India is nearly equal to the entire budget of Pakistan, and still it finds fighters like EF, Rafale expensive to buy, but here we have certain Pakistani posters dreaming of not only buying these expensive fighters but add awacs, 200 FC-1……… to it.
As Sameer said there is a reason the PAF is buying rusted, outdated equipment which is not difficult to figure out.
Would u care to explain to us how would IAF expand from 39.5 squadrons to 60 squadrons over the next decade (by 2013 dat is) while they r planning to retire most of their Mig-21s by then. We admit that IAF is all about action (though it took them 20 years to get AJT in spite of the fact that their coffin making business was thriving), give us the basis on which ACM who im sure is also proud of orange, white and green, is basing his predictions???
To,
A rattled Pakistani,
With MKIs,LCAs,& M2K5 it is a possibility. Hal is currently building 40 Jags as we speak. I mean 125 M2K5s+ 190-200 Su-30Mki+40 jags+ upg mig -27s + LCAs…. it might just happen. If not 60 then 55, but rest assured the squadron strenght will increase rapidly.
PS. Widows of poor mig-21 pilots woulnnt mind a system where the power rests with few.
Are we talking about the same system in which Generals refuse to accept the bodies of their own soldiers? I think think the widows would definately not like such a system.
Well, it did not take long for you to show your true colours did it!?
Yup, proud of the Orange, white and green.
Firstly, I am to assume all of Indias multibillion dollar deals take time, but in teh case of Pakistan its different and some how different rules apply!? Give me a break……..
It is different in case of Pakistan because you are yet to sign a multibillion dollar deal!.
F-7GPs PAF has inducted are more then enough to take on IAF MIG-21s, 23s, 27s and Jags, Pakistan just has to worry about MIG-29,M2K and SU-30, for these reasons it is looking to aqquire a high tech planes.
You want to compare the pgs with the Bison then open a new thread.
FC-1 is being introduced with a view to replacing F-7/Mirage
And you still end up buying outdated, rusted ex-Libyan mirages.
PAF chief in an interview with Alan Warnes in this months AFM had stated PAF is looking at all options for an F-16 replacement, this will be Pakistans next generation aicraft. No offence, bt I will take his word against yours any day……
Its really Sad that these are the only things Your ACMs,Presidents,PrimeMinisters do and have been doing so since the 90s. The only thing they are good at now is giving interviews. The current PAF acm has gone on step further by now saying that the PAF is actively looking at the J-10. Tell you what, instead of giving silly interviews, they should go ahead and acquire a decent fighter aircraft b’cause your Pgs, F-16A/Bs,Mirages and A-5s don’t stand a chance against the likes of the MKIs,M2k,Mig-29s,Jaguars,Bisons……
Almost similar to the many “deals” India was supposed to make…….
Where on earth are the
Scorpene subs
Naval rafaels
120 M2Ks
TU-22sGet my point!?
Have a little patience kid! These are multibillion dollar deals which take there own time to culminate. We should not forget about the MKIs,Gorshkov,Krivaks,T-90s,Klubs,Bhramos,Smerch,29ks,Hawks……………..
On the other hand which was the last billion dollar deal the Pakistanis signed, IIRC it was for the 90B, and even after that your Navy is no great shape.
Please do not compare these deals with the mig-21 clones you acquired from China. This is precisely why people don’t expect PAF to acquire the Grippen or for that matter the Efs,Rafales,F-16s,M2k5s……. . The only thing you can afford is the FC-1, so stick with it.
Get my point!
Hmm…
Jamali visits France = M2K5s for PAF
Dictator Mushy visits US and begs = F-16 C/D for PAF
Mushy going to visit Sweden= Grippen for PAF
We should now start a new post ” Musharaff Visits Death Star”. Can’t imagine what they may acquire from there, any star wars fan lurking.
Interestingly, the presence of bombs equipped with infrared technology has made the vulnerability of Indian bombs, AA 11 and AA 12, completely exposed.
Now what the hell does this mean?
India aims to fly hypersonic plane in 2007
Press Trust of India
Bangalore, January 1
Indian defence scientists are aiming to fly an indigenous “hypersonic plane” in 2007, designed to cruise three times faster than existing fighter aircraft by consuming lesser fuel.
[B]An eight-metre technology demonstrator is being built by the Hyderabad-based Defence Research and Development Laboratory (DRDL) which will be powered by a Supersonic combustion ramjet (Scramjet) engine, that takes oxygen from the atmosphere and burns liquid hydrogen.
[B] “The ground tests of the engine would begin next year and we aim to fly the unmanned aircraft in 2007”, DRDL Director Prahlada said in Bangalore.
The aircraft would be integrated in India’s aviation capital Bangalore and Hyderabad, he said.
The supersonic combustion ramjet or scramjet engine fired-hyper plane is a high speed transport aircraft that could reduce the flight time by hours because of the weight factor and the engine that does not have a compressor or a turbine.
This is very confusing, IN has already signed contract for 17 barak missile systems with the Isrealis, also a modified version called the super Barak is under development to take on super sonic Ashms so where does Trishul stand today?
