Nine month wait for a CT scan?
If that’s accurate, I think NHS needs an overhaul.

No, it’s the Hospital/Trust in question that needs the overhaul for management of length of waiting.

The problem being that the NHS won’t pay them to work the extra hours. They won’t pay Nurses to do overtime, they’d much rather pay an Agency twice the overtime rate. An example. I had a part time contract on a ward. They often wanted me to work more than my contracted hours. However, the NHS wouldn’t pay me overtime. So the ward sister used to ring an Agency I was registered with and request me specifically as I knew the ward and the routines. Financially good for me but what a waste of money when they could have either increased my hours at NHS rate or paid me NHS overtime rate which was still a massive saving over the Agency rate.

What everyone is forgetting, you are looking at this from a “whole NHS view”. You should look at it from an individual Hospitals view.

Because you didn’t get paid for your overtime, isn’t the fault of the NHS, it’s the fault of that particular Hospital/Trust.

Waiting times for surgery, again, it’s the fault of the individual Hospital. I worked for 16 years in the operating theatres of a major Hospital.

At one point, not sure what they are like now, probably a bit better, but our waiting times for certain specialities was high, simply because every Tom, Dick and Harry was being referred to the Hospital from Cornwall to Scotland, and in some cases worldwide.

We were running 3 session days, and waiting lists both Saturday and Sunday.

And also the fact he looks a right spoilt brat, well in today’s comic The Sun. Like it how they went for the “innocent kid” look with him pictured with a cuddly toy….

Like you say, probably more to it than meets the eye.

Pffft, no-one is gonna be telling me when I can retire. Soon as my mortgage is paid off, that’s when I retire. But, ssshhh, don’t tell Mr Cameron…:)

Do they all have leather seating and ptv’s.

Aghh, nothing worse. Nearly slid out my seat on a flight into Cairns a few years back. Pilot came in a tad too quick, slammed the brakes on, and I nearly slid out the seat. Okay, probably shoulda had the seat belt a lil bit tighter, but still, was fun…:D
