Hi All,
Angels One Five and The Magic Box. both on BBCi last viewing today for both…….
Starring Jack Hawkins,Michael Denison,Dulcie Gray,John Gregson . Angels One Five is a 1952 British film directed by George More O’Ferrall, and starring Jack Hawkins, Michael Denison, Dulcie Gray, John Gregson, Cyril Raymond and Veronica Hurst. Based on the book What Are Your Angels Now? by Pelham Groom (who was also technical advisor to the film under his full title of W/Cdr. A. J. C. Pelham Groom), the plot centres on a young fighter pilot immediately before and during the Battle of Britain in the Second World War. Some scenes in the film were shot at RAF Uxbridge, home to a wartime operations room.
The Magic Box is a 1951 British, Technicolor, biographical drama film, directed by John Boulting. The film stars Robert Donat as William Friese-Greene, with a host of cameo appearances by such actors as Peter Ustinov and Laurence Olivier. It was produced by Ronald Neame and distributed by British Lion Film Corporation. The film was a project of the Festival of Britain and adapted by Eric Ambler from the controversial biography by Ray Allister.
William Friese-Green (Robert Donat) is a young British photographer who dreams of making the projection of moving images into a reality. Through various experiments, luck and sheer perseverance, he succeeds in creating a working motion picture camera. However, his achievement fails to capture public attention. Worse, his obsessive devotion to his ambitions causes him to neglect other aspects of his life, leaving William impoverished and causing emotional pain for those closest to him.

Hi All,
Certainly had a distinguished war career then carried that mental attitude into his post war career, especially overcoming the difficulties with the cuts that were put in place and the service problems the RAF faced as a whole…RIP Mr Beetham.

Hi All,
Came across this site with a list of aircraft that crashed either in Ireland or close by plenty of Spits ,couple of Hurricanes plenty of German Bombers no German fighters listed though, however this is meant as a guide only.
The following is at the bottom of the listed aircraft page:- ” These totals should only be taken as reference. They include personnel that were lost at sea and were washed up/or were never recovered in some cases. Some of the entries above do not have totals against them. Also, some of these entries are not considered ‘Irish’ losses as there was no Irish military or police involvement or reports there of.”
