    Hi All,
Watched the video from his Facebook page like others can’t wait for Part 2, in the meantime searched for tempest related stuff and found these comments posted by (SvenTviking) below a Napier Lion engine run video, anybody know if there is any truth in these ? Ignoring the fact that his Typhoon is the Tempest being restored if you read the 1st line of the 11month reply then a fair portion of the 10 month comment about the exhaust problems this is what I refer to.
    “SvenTviking 11 months ago
A friend of mine’s father had a job at the end of WW2. Dumping hundreds of brand new Napier Sabres, in their crates, into the Mediterranean from a landing ship. Terrible!
I have heard that Kermit Weeks in the USA has all the parts to build a new Hawker Typhoon. Problem is the engine, not in getting one running, but the lack of spares and getting a flying licence from the Federal aviation authority.
    SvenTviking 10 months ago
Sorry, I was under the impression that he said he had all the bits to build a Typhoon but couldn’t do it due to the engine not getting the necessary civil licences. He may be building a Tempest, check it’s not a Centaurus engined MkII. Biggest problem with building either, Typhoon or a Sabre engined Tempest is the problem of gassing the pilot with carbon monoxide. Both aircraft were flown with the pilot on oxygen at all times due to an aerodynamic/exhaust problem which channelled exhaust fumes into the cockpit. This was allowed in Wartime but would be unacceptable now.”
