It all comes down to money in the end the pay is nowhere near enough what it should be let alone able to live on comfertably, the NHS decided in it’s wisdom it would be cheaper to employ agency nurses in relation to the benefits of:- They will not have to pay the Agency nurses Holiday money/Can get rid of when not enough work/No need to train etc.etc. the down side to all this was the NHS never trained many home grown nurses that did want a career in nursing despite the pitiful wages and working conditions.
The conditions mentioned above is the main reason why we have a shortage in home grown Poor wages and working conditions in particular the Wages, they have been a bone of contention for years. Just look at the pay increase system in place didn’t the nurses get 1.5% increase last time and the Mp’s 10% ? Where is the fairness in that ? 1% of a few quid is nothing compared to 10% of many thousands plus benefits. Another problem was getting rid of the Matrons they kept the hospitals running just as Sergeants in the forces keep them running….;)

P.S. Eammon Holmes this morning asked the minister who is in charge of this “would they be willing to py the £35’000 pa that would be needed” a number of times and each time she responded with exactly the same answer of “we are prepared to discuss any terms with the nurses” but no Yes/No answer that Eammon was trying to get out of her, a typical government bull and avoidance tactic instead of a straight answer……:mad:

Great news from the RNHF a round of applause for all involved in getting her back up where she belongs….:applause: Does anybody else remember a third RNHF Swordfish being restored to fly not to long ago ? I seem to remember reading somewhere there was another being added or was that just as a spare for the two flyers ?

I used to deliver Mr whoever Fairey/Davies/Bayliss/Miller ? (I always thought Fairey) his papers when G-AIDN was at Bagington, if memory strikes me right he also owned at the time a pits special, but was always a good tipper at Christmas….:applause:

On 2 July 1969 G-AIDN was noted at Middle Wallop in a dark blue livery with a white horizontal line along the fuselage although by the air show at RNAS Yeovilton on 21 September 1974 the two-seater had been painted in the overall yellow depicted in the model
From 1978 to 1983 G-AIDN was the property of George F. Miller of Baginton and later Dinas Powys and during his ownership the two seat Spitfire was damaged while landing at Baginton on 6 February 1978. The Supermarine trainer was then repainted at RAF St Athan in 1980, emerging as MT818/G-M as pictured below by R. Harrington.

Post amended as the ownership had a 1/2 stake sold and changed hands while at Bagington in the 70’s, I delivered papers during this time frame and joined the RAF 1978 so with that in mind it could have been either Mr Fairey/Mr Davies/Mr Bayliss or Mr Miller taking the above information into account but I do remember the chap having a pits special as well at the time. Either way great news.:applause:
