A few years ago when driving in and around Lincolnshire I used to visit NX611 every few weeks and chatted to both Fred and Harold a number of times, they told me once that when the yanks moved out the dug a pit and bulldozed allsorts in then covered it with concrete. They often thought about if it was worth digging but two problems always stopped them 1st they had buried an old car and many years later dug it out and it was like a pancake, 2nd where the pit was it was half on their land and half on the neighbours land and he wasn’t interested. I think I have posted this before but it doesn’t hurt going over again in this thread.

Isn’t a known fact that the snipers where shooting both sides so each could blame the other ? As for the vote not all Crimean’s voted the Tata’s didn’t they where advised not to. If the west and the UN are saying they don’t recognise it why don’t they hold another official vote with UN observers so they do recognise it ? after all even if the Tata’s vote Crimea would still make the return to Russia in my mind Russia are only doing what the US did all be it with a military ethos when they had them kick the missiles out of Cuba and halt the supply of more, the US would do the very same in Russia’s position defending against western encroachment.
For example the US wanted the so called SDI missile’s on or near Russia’s border and Russia quite rightly got the hump just like Kennedy did with Cuba, the only problem I can see with all this Ukraine sabre rattling is if Russia does decide to forge ahead with more annexation of East Ukraine and then I can see another Clement Attlee figure (Haig or Cameron:highly_amused:) coming back and appeasing Russia if they do go over the top and move onto another slice.
It seems to me that Mr Putin is taking advantage of as it is so often put in this country our frugal times, Lord Dannet has been laughed at by his fears but hopefully the Lords could possibly back his call for a reduction in the number to culled in the forces and not to close the German bases down, quite rightly if this how the Russian policy’s are going to go in the future weather the west has got the will to fight an enemy that has some serious chance of doing harm when fighting back or willing to use Nukes first if thing’s don’t go the way they thought will be a matter of time for all we know Mr Putin will stop when he recreates the Warsaw pact pre Gorbachev borders god only knows.
I hope and prey this isn’t on his mind but him being ex-KGB and in favour of the old USSR then only god and time will tell as nobody can really guess his next move once this Ukraine business is finished.

While all the above as far as I am concerned are sadistically cruel you have to remember this has been their custom in whichever country you visit and has it root’s back to the Pagan history when ritual slaughter was the norm. It doesn’t matter what we the tourists or immigrants think it will continue yet despite this you would have thought in this day and age all country’s would be more enlightened.

I don’t see why you have to pay a fee now especially when you consider most pay per view have the BBC on in one form or another, nor do I see why they can’t have adverts not like we have now interrupting programmes but in between the programmes say a couple of minutes worth.
Am I right in thinking each advert is approximately 30sec’s long ? (Please correct if incorrect) I don’t know about anybody else but when you just get into a programme on Sky or other commercial up come the adverts and they are staring to get more regular now especially on Sky more and more like the USA. Apart from that the BBC according to Noel Edmonds spends most of the funding on the world service and he quite rightly states most people in this country don’t listen to it or even know how to get it. It is what he states and the fact the BBC take the fee off the viewer even though they don’t or cannot use all their services I mean why are we charged for services that we never really use ?
