    Hi Rich,
Glad to see that the project is gathering pace just a thought the Shackleton that’s at Long Marston amongst the other decaying airframes can’t you utilise what’s left or are there problems with it’s owners ? seems to me it would be better stripped down all parts inspected as to what is viable for your project ?

Not guilty, no time for sitting down on a day like today!

Talking of engine noise, there’s a bird problem at Duxford at the moment (lots of crows/rooks on the grass) and the only thing that shifted them was an engine run from the TFC Spitfire XIV….

Many thanks for the superb pics and the Vid as per usual looks like Legends is going to be a real treat for all :applause: as for the Crows and the Rooks I have a sneaky suspiscion the grass had an effect on the flying :dev2: or just to chilled in the heat :p

Never realised they where still needed for combat but if they are we need pilots like the following flying with a bit of bottle :highly_amused::highly_amused:

    or these two

    Hi All,
So does this mean engine out and rebuild ?

    Geoff.

If it was easy I am sure they would have ! There are complete wartime engines around but they command a premium and the majority are spares sources only. The cost of building new and getting it certified in the U.K would be eye watering if you could find someone who actually wanted to take it on !

Perhaps the only way is to use R2600 Wright Cyclone engines and fly it in NZ or Aus

Could the Beaufighter not be converted into a Merlin powered variant?

    Hi All,
David do you think that is the stumbling the cost of the engines and as apposed to the running of the aircraft when flight ready ?what about what I said about re-configuring post war Hercules back to war time configuration or could be the budget constraints of the on going restoration? What makes you think about the Ausie are you thinking of the Moorabin Beaufighter ?

    TempestNut & j_jza80,
I tend to agree with you but to be honest I would prefer Hercules but if it meant getting it flying sure why not the only trouble is I think with Merlins it doesn’t look right but that’s just a personal opinion. :eagerness:

    Air Ministry,
I have read the story of KB976 on your web page many thanks for the post,I still remember the shock I felt knowing that all that work to get her flying had come to a disastrous end then to top it all the sad news about Charles Church but you have filled in the blanks for me,you your self must be the man who it has hit the hardest you have my respect for your timeless love of this aircraft and many thanks for sharing this harrowing story with us all.

    Hi All,
Like the P-47 article in an earlier post so much loss of life such a shame but we need to keep these parts of history alive for all not just aviation enthusiasts god bless them all.

    Geoff.
