Perhaps it is more about the quality of the information to start with?

Will you be getting out your spade at Castle Bromwich, Mark?

On a similar line, there were accounts of a Hawker bi-plane being buried in a public institution in the UK. These were not wild and fanciful stories, but verifiable, attributable and valid accounts that were credible. The Hawker bi-plane was/is still there.

    Hi ALL,
Harold and Fred Panton (May He Rest In Peace) told me a few years ago that the yanks dug a big pit on East Kirby and bulldozed a lot of stuff into it then covered it then it was concreted over they thought about digging up to see if anything was any use but two problems put them off

1st- They themselves buried a car under a load of earth and when they dug it up some number of years later it was like a pancake.
2nd- Where the pit is it straddles both their and a neighbours farm and they never thought he would give them the permission.

So what sort of evidence does that constitute not hard evidence but definitely word of mouth by two honourable gentleman.

Great web page, I read in one of my books that the Aussies loved the phantom so much they wanted to keep them and cancel the F111 order but there was some shenanigans in Washington on behalf of the companies behind the F111 to make them take the aardvark.

    Curlyboy

    Hi All,
them shenanigans again seems to me they got in the way of the TSR2 :love-struck: order from the Ausies that would have partly secured it’s future
That is not to say the F-111 was not a capable aircraft but as Si says HEY!!!! 😀

[QUOTE=Easyrider5258;2041799]Picture taken in the eighty’s, I have assumed this shot was at RAF Bentwaters, but it seems not, its possibly RAF Alconbury, but cant find any other photos featuring the Scotts pines in the background, scenery does not fit with Lakenheath or Mildenhall either so at a loss ???

    Hi Lazy8,
Sorry personal feeling is very ugly has lost all it’s allure, hell it looks like the UFO Interceptor :highly_amused: either that or its expecting twins with them side inlets 😀 just don’t suit it maybe could have worked if they widened the fuselage a little similar to the Rafael but I suppose it would change the look completely from one engine on top of each other

    Duxman & Mark,
Mark perhaps I was a bit to hasty I assumed incorrectly it would have a glossy finish like the fury but wouldn’t I be correct in stating the Fury has a metal skinned fuselage and the Nimrod Fabric and Metal ? the only other comment I would add is looks like it needs a good scrub :dev2::highly_amused: unless it is initially aged 😀
Duxman fantastic pictures looks quite nimble :applause: more of the same please 😀

    Sttratofreighter,
Thanks for the video seen the French stuff and a couple other bits before but the Blue Angels clips how do those pilots make room for their balls :highly_amused:
I can only assume they must have a special bag to put them in having said that the same can be said for all the pilots great viewing and well worth watching again.
Liked the first track but the second was a bit limp try this out for size puts me in a good mood every time enjoy and turn the volume all the way up 😉

    😀

Or if you prefer modern Blue Angels :D

    Lazy8,
Many thanks for the back up beginning to think dementia was setting in after I posted :dev2: Any Idea what the thinking was behind the solid nose of the variable wing the view on the deskpilot post (No offence deskpilot) looks more like a Transformer having a fit with all the bits hanging off it just looks ugly :highly_amused:. I am surprised that nobody came up with (What are they called slipper tanks  ?) like on the Israeli F-16’s instead of the wing mounted tanks it got, having said that it was probably a good fix at the time 😀 Can you imagine if that exercise between the two types was a real scenario what would have been the outcome do you think wouldn’t have liked to explain why I ran out fuel from a dog fight but then I am no pilot so I should really keep my big trap shut :dev2::D:highly_amused:
