Just fantastic what a bit of elbow grease can do..:D Seriously though congratulations with all your hard work you are restoring an old masterpiece back to it’s original creation (Well cockpit at least :D) Considering where the lightning came from after the many years open to the elements and human interest in the form of budding Picasso’s you have done really well.
You have a big pat on the back from me as you are doing what many only ever think about and never have the time to do or get distracted from with another project, well done you the end is in sight now so you will have your just reward…..:applause:

I watched the Michael Caine classic ‘Ipcress File’ last night (Via BBCi available until 22:45 14/12) a bit dated but still an good old fashioned British spy thriller enjoyable all these years later……..:cool:

Last night I watched the awful remake of Dad’s Army via (Sky Cinema) sad to say that many of the jokes that made the original series a hit never really transferred to the big screen with this cast of fairly well known actors. There where a couple of laughs but aside from that I found it dragging to say the least also with a little pc thrown in it ruined the film IMO, but like always you watch you make your own mind up……:apologetic:
The only reason I suspect I found the film unfunny for the most would more than likely be the original series is so firmly imprinted in my conscious that like the current crop of BBC comedy series remakes that are scheduled they will be ruined by not sticking to the original format and the new producers wanting to put their own tamp on it, overall if your a fan of the original I don’t think you’ll really like the new take sadly.

Beaufighter looks so forlorn ? It’s a shame that nobody apparently appears in moving the project forward, just seems to be stuck in limbo because of the engine problems.
I just wish some chap or chapess (Based in the UK obviously) with disposable would lavish some cash on her instead of wanting another supercar to add to their collection or buying another football club etc.etc.etc. To see this extraordinary project come to a standstill after so much work from the team sitting there instead of it’s ultimate conclusion of having an airworthy Beau is very disheartening in terms of aircraft restoration….:apologetic:

I watched the low budget short Sci-Fi film ‘Love’ via (BBCi), another good film with just one main character marooned on the ISS who goes through the emotions of thinking it’s a blip, to the realisation he is marooned and they forget about him despite his trying to contact them. Please pass on my congratulations to all the team from low to upon high rank you are all just as important no matter what role you play in my book. You all deserve a massive pat on the back for all your hard work in saving this most iconic of all the UK Phantoms. Not only that but as so many gave donations to the 1st attempt that had a troubled beginning you have restored all faith in Black Mike restoration having come along and basically stop the death sentence WELL DONE!!:applause:
It only leaves me to say that I will donate when I can as like others having donated to the 1st attempt will not be put off by that debacle and wish to see this aircraft rolling down the runway at some point, although like you imply many hurdles to jump first with ITAR. I am sure what happens in the US will only serve as evidence that sophisticated aircraft can be operated to a safe and professional level just the same way vintage aircraft do at the moment flown by civilians, along with the correct regulations governing all areas of these aircraft and pilots being adhered to.
What a great start to I imagine what will be an historic journey for all those involved in Black Mikes future….:eagerness:

I was going to ask exactly the same question and like other replies have also been watching this rather surprisingly good show :eagerness:
So while we are on the subject anybody watching the post war ‘Close To The Enemy’ ? another fine BBC2 series about the UK’s race for aircraft technology from a German scientist they smuggled to the UK with his daughter. Only one complaint the wardrobe department and the actors need to dress the part a bit better
i.e. Ill-fitting clothes and the actors (Robert Glenister) do not seem to be able to tie knots for their ties especially the main characters Army boss the Brigadier.
The main character Cpt Fergusson-Jim Sturgess coincidently is the lead actor in the film I recently watched about the Nth.Ireland troubles ’50Dead Men Walking’ an excellent biopic with the trailer posted in the last film you watched thread…..:eagerness:

To tell the truth I never noticed I was just pjssed off about the sound effects of the aircraft but I did enjoy the CGI air battle scenes just the same, above all although the film for the main is in subtitles I enjoyed watching it a very good Biopic/Drama 😉 better than this supposed to be Horror that I watched last night not one of my better choices for viewing abysmal…:apologetic:
Right then last night I sat through film 4’s Horror called The Babadook and I wouldn’t recommend it as it was a HORROR!!! This low budget film was an absolute flat boring story with the Babadook only making a slight appearance in the last1/3 of the film a few times. Even when the Babadook is shown it’s more of blink and you’ll miss it appearance. The film looked like it had some promise at the beginning by setting up the appearance of the Babadook but that took most of the film and way to long IMPO, the kid by half through way I just want to strangle him and get it over with very annoying to me. But hey that’s just my view as always you decide but as Horror’s go very tame and doesn’t deliver IMHO…..:sleeping:

I watched the Ukrainian/Russian biopic ‘Battle For Savastopol’ via (Sky Cinema) about female sniper Lyudmila Pavlichenko. Although for the main it is in subtitles it does have English where it counts as the story is told via ‘Mrs Roosevelt’ point of view. I enjoyed the film and while CGI is present and fails at times the battle scenes are effective only let down is the aircraft sounds as usual they do not sound very realist more like pit special milling around instead of the throaty rasp of the tiny Policarpov I-16 shvetsov engine ? and the whistling DB engine of the BF109-E’s this I only mention as you would have thought that because both types of aircraft have airworthy examples surely the film producers would want authenticity ? but otherwise I enjoyed the film…..:cool: Starring:- Yulia Peresild,oan Blackham,Yevgeny Tsyganov and Vitaliy Linetskiy plus other unnamed cast members.
