[QUOTE=nocutstoRAF;1612729]Given how flexible both the CVF and the F-35B has to be I have no problem with carriers sailing around with 1 squadron of F-35B on board for carrier training, a flight of Merlin’s embarked for training in the transport role and four Merlin ASaC.
exactly
Just a point on SSN’s The number of SSN’s completed is dependent on how many can be completed before the next genaration os SSBN’s take up all the construction hall. If the Astute design has more problems then there will be only 6, if they can be built to the current schedule, then 7, if faster or the SSBN is delayed then 8.
Guys, I know this is an aviation forum but the tittle of this thread is not “lets discuss diffrent plane options for CVF” its CVF construction. Has anyone any news, pics of the construction of CVF?

Come on guys…….whats happening, wheres the constuction pictures
The U.S. Navy conducted successful test flights June 8 and 9 of four Trident II D5 Fleet Ballistic Missiles (FBMs) built by Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT). The Navy launched the unarmed missiles from the submerged submarine USS Maryland (SSBN 738) in the Atlantic Ocean.
This test marked the 131st, 132nd, 133rd and 134th consecutive successful test flights of the Trident II D5 missile since 1989 – continuing a more than 20-year record of reliability that is unmatched by any other large ballistic missile or space launch vehicle.

134 after this went pop, thats 6 a month……..very impressive
Dennis Healey said not less then 3 and 5 was the realist target…………..

Definitely, it was never less than 3 but the original plans were for 5 so the over ambitious fantasy fleets use this figure

Thanks Dan, I’m a stuanch supporter of the carriers and keenly aware of the implications of the cancilation, should that happen, to the workers in my country and to the Royal Navy
Dude thats actualy funny!
Will dig my source out tomorrow for you, to be honest have no idea whether it ligit or not

China’s first aircraft carrier…….bit like CVF!

Really interesting news from DCNS. They are proposing a variant of their FM400 frigate family with a wave piercing bow……
Awesome looking, note how the bow is built up much higher on the wave piercing ship to keep things dry(er).
Not convinced the wave piercing bow is of any use but sure looks more war like and thus gets my vote:)
none of these aircraft would be able to take off from a “ski jump” with any significant load.
However, until the carriers are sufficiently built, the difference in fittiing catapults shouldn’t be too important. The same basis is (was?) supposed to be used for 2nd french carrier that is made with catapults (so the study is already done anyway).
If thats a reply to my post you have missed the point, you buy the cheaper plane and use the huge wedge you save to put cats on it and fire them of the front! after the first 10 planes you just pocket the saved wonga and go on holiday!
The Queen Elizabeth class can be modified to carry two catapults.
The only problem  is the cost of the modification: € 400 million…
Getting the money for that is easy, we buy the same number of cheaper planes and use the money saved to put cats and traps on.
Grippen @ $69m
F35B @ $112m
A saving of $43m a plane, by the time you have purchased the first 10 planes you have saved enough money to put cats on CVF
This leads us to the obvious conclusion (for me anyway) that the RN activly dosn’t want CATOBAR ships and actually wants STOVL or rolling landing ships.
