If you can’t read that its not my fault. I posted exactly from Jane’s which clearly says what myself and Arthur said. But harry and nitin have a ego problem, simple as that! You both are claiming that it was IAF idea which is not. Next read text which has IAF with a little , a little more objectively.
In the past, harry has said that news from FI was bogos, you need more proof. Check your own posts. AFM, article was written by your own IAF staff member, need I say more. Read carefully;)
R-555-II was a typo, should read R-550-II . Wow you even catch people’s typo, good job!
What you have not achieved is accepting that YOU ARE WRONG! Call other people names is your “forte”. Keep it up. Besides, according to your understanding Su-30 MKI is an INDIAN aircrafts What else is left, you have going to the moon how about the sun??
Oh, harry and party of know everything, check Jane’s ATWA 1976-77, it also says the same thing I wrote from Jane’s ATWA 1988-89. So, who is the flamer now? Now everything!
Get over this childish behavior of whatever came out of your own Indian publication has become the word of truth whilst everybody else, including Jane’s and FI are bogus.
I am quoting from Jane’s not from any other source about Agave radar
Again, Jaguar was equiped with overwing AAM prior to any deals with India, that’s word from the get go. India “might” have got another “licence” to improve certain missile e.g. R-555 II but RAF/BAe were already using the overwing pylon.
Having said the above, according to Janes ATWA 1988-89 pp 133 under SEPECAT Jaguar International, “Jaguar International is the export version, first flown on 19 August 1976…Other customer options include overwing pylons compatible with Matra R.550 Magic or similar dogfight missile; multi-purpose radar such as the Thomson-CSF Agave;”
Same page under Armament: “Jaguar International can also carry two Matra Magic air-to-air missile on overwing pylons,”
Try using a hard book with real pages for once for your source rather than being an addict to BR for the “real” numbers. 😉
Don’t send me to BAe but you need to give a source for your wild theory. Jag International is the name of the project along with export program which started waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay but in early 70’s
The designs and mods for the same were supplied by HAL to BAe, the overwing modifications were first carried out by engineers at ASTE, IAF.
Rubbish! I remember seeing photos of Jags with over wing R-550 in 1976.
Weapons carriage was also generally similar to that of British Jaguars, with several customers buying the BL755 cluster bomb as a prominent store. The Jaguar International could be fitted with the overwing pylons, mentioned in the previous section, for carriage of heat-seeking AAMs, allowing all underwing pylons to be used for heavy stores. The usual overwing munition was a Matra Magic AAM, though the Sidewinder was also qualified eventually. Although it might seem that overwing launch would have led to problems with stores separation, it apparently was no big deal.
It should be easier to clear for Indian sale-they already use the primary US component, the F404 engine. What makes you think BAe and Saab would only market it to India if the Pakistanis are allowed to have them?

This line up for IAF is majorly flawed. First, there is a big difference between Dash 9 & 5 M2K because of this IAF will not buy two different version of M2K. Second, no where it says that LM F-16 E/F are on the table for IAF. Third, Gripen will not be sold to IAF until it is cleared for sale for Pakistan. Fourth and last point, IAF will buy none other than Mig-29 along with assembly line.
This is very serious and dangerous. IAEA should sent inspectors to verify the safety of the plant.
Tsunami may have damaged Indian nuclear plant
NEW DELHI: Huge waves that battered the Indian coastline after an earthquake in Indonesia may have damaged a nuclear power plant in southern Tamil Nadu state, the government said on Monday. The Press Trust of India news agency said Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had called a meeting on Tuesday to review any damage to the plant. Authorities on Sunday shut down the Indira Gandhi Atomic Energy Centre in Kalpakkam, 80 kilometres south of Tamil Nadu capital Madras as a precaution. Water seeped into the facility, which is located on the coast, after the tsunami hit following Sunday’s earthquake. “Information reaching here suggests that facilities at Kalpakkam nuclear station may have been affected by the tidal waves,” said a spokesman from the prime minister’s office. The private NDTV news channel said 1,500 families in the Kalpakkam township of Tamil Nadu had been evacuated by government relief agencies. (AFP)
Pakdef wishlists aside, are there any indications that AMRAAMS will be released to the PAF? If not, and given that US acess for source code assistance to integrate the SD10/SAfrican BVR AAM’s etc will be well nigh unavailable- why the preference and continued insistence upon the F16? Move on, people!
Nitin,
Read my post with an open mind and eyes. Where the hell did I say any thing about “source codes”?
If you always want to flame and or instigate flame than move on.
Ali,
Reports from Pakdef are suggesting that PAF will be getting “MLU Kits” soon. When PAF will have its F-16 ugraded than AMRAAM would be included in the because than what’s the use getting a MLU without BVR. Initially, all MLU were known as “F-16 ADA” because they were capable of carrying Spparow. There is no need to get MLU if you don’t want BVR. What’s the use of MLU without BVR.
Russia plans new military aircraft sales to China
.c The Associated Press
MOSCOW (AP) – Russia plans to sell a host of new military jet fighters and transport planes to China in 2005, arms export officials said Friday, and foreign sales of Russian weaponry and equipment could exceed US$5 billion next year.
Yury Krylov, who heads the air force division of the state agency Rosoboronexport, said that his agency and Chinese Air Force expect to sign several new contracts for Su-30MK2 multifunctional jet fighters, according to the Interfax news agency. Pre-contract work on supplying Il-76 Candid military transports and Il-78 Midas aerial tankers were almost finished as well, he said.
“We are planning to conclude a series of new contracts, in particular, for the supplies of SU-30MK2 planes to the Chinese Air Force,” Krylov was quoted as saying by Interfax.
Defense analysts say Su-30s cost about US$35 million (euro26 million) each. India bought several dozen Su-30MKI jets in the late 1990s for US$28 million each.
China has become the Russian arms industry’s No. 1 customer, and is expected to buy weapons worth some US$2 billion (euro1.5 billion) this year to modernize its arsenal and back up frequent threats to invade Taiwan.
Krylov also said Russia is also considering continuing to supply parts for SU-27SK Flanker jets to China, where they could be assembled under license.
The Sukhoi Su-27 – a similar twin-engine design to the Su-30 -has been in service since 1985, and has the NATO code name “Flanker.” Its speed and maneuverability made it one of the key planes in the former Soviet air force, and it resembles the U.S. F-15 Eagle fighter with two rear stabilizers and twin engines.
Rosoboronexport Director General Sergei Chemezov told Interfax the agency had signed more than US$5.5 billion in contracts in 2004 and China and India would remain priority countries for Russian arms exports.
He said naval contracts are expected to grow, along with upgrading planes and helicopters, missile and artillery armaments, communication systems and other technologies.

SAGEM is a great company but tends to be quite expensive, look for the jf-17 to break the 20 million mark.
I have a feeling JF-17 would be selling between $18-$25 million. This whole idea of fighter aircraft selling for $15 million a unit is laughable
Absolutely. That is why India is building them or paying for them with their own cash.
They are not asking them as freebies in return for “arresting terrorists”
Okay, for once you have made your country’s true intentions exposed in public! Attack and destroy Pakistan!
Please delete your second sentence.
If Pakistan is going to be given more F-16s, with them stating that they’ll be used to strike terrorist camps and the like, I’d think their chances of getting AMRAAM as part of the deal aren’t necessarily set in stone. Terrorist camps aren’t exactly able to be targeted by the AIM-120.
In the same way, why is IAF buying SU-30, LCA and Mirage 2000 for? There is only ONE answer, they are meant to be used against Pakistan.
