Not positive about F-4 but I think F-4E-2000 and RF-4E are still in service
Yeah, what the hell is that heavy smoke in the background?
one of the main news item was proposed sale of Al-Khalid’s to Saudi Arabia. I believe Pakdef had reprted that on tank-net.org a while ago, may be last year and also this year.
According to pakdef, al-khalid was tested by the saudis in Pakistan and later to be tested in Saudi desert. Bangladesh is also interested in upgrading their T-55s and T-59s to Al-Zarrar standard, and also establish a local shop to implement the upgrade and overhaul.
Bangladeshi military personnel visited HIT this August for testing and evaluation.
Since this is an aviation forum I won’t go into that in detail. PAF is in the process of negotiating for Grippens. This is all a political game but they always have the French option available. The only drawback for that is the price thats why French solution is more like a backup plan. Money is not an issuem but like all countries Pakistan would rather go for the cheaper deal. F-16s are not a permanent solution for PAF, its rather a convenience since they already have the infrastructure for that. 18 Additional F-16s would make the total number to 50 aircraft and that will activate 3rd squadron.
J-10 is not a 4th generation solution for PAF, their Chief has always said we will go for a western aircraft for frontline fighters. This doesn’t mean that J-10 won’t be inducted, J-10 will be an addition rather than squadron. PAF has been contemplating on increasing the number of squadrons. JF-17 is more like a replacement for Mirages and J-7s for the numbers not for the technology.
According to my sources the Zimbabwe deal for FC-1 is also true, but the number is small. I believe its supposed to be under 20 aircraft.
IDEAS 2004 was a maga success for Pakistan. A lot of interest was shown by delegations from around the world. Some delegates were even saying that these types of shows are better and more productive than IDEX because a given country can buy anything from boots, uniforms to submarines.
BTW, as Mavaustin said Zimbabwe will become the first first customer for FC-1.
Quite weird they mentioned the pilot’s full name… perhaps he’s a Colonel or higher in rank.
LOL
Someone should inform that reporter that the Kfirs are not longer used.. for almost ten years
As everybody can see, the Indian press is not authentic because they don’t care to verify news. News verification is not part of the jib description in India.
OTH, Tsvah Haganah Le Israel-Heyl Ha’avir has the following fighters in its inventory:
F-16 A/B (Netz) = 114
F-16 C/D (Barak) = 125
F-16I (Suefe) = 102
F-15 A/B (Baz) = 44
F-15 C/D (Akef) = 27
F-15I (Ra’am) = 25
C7/TC-7 (Kfir) = 50 (In storage)
F-4E = 40 (In Storage)
F-4 E2000/RF-4E = 65
A-4N (Ahit) = 105 (about 80 in storage)
Before the advent of “internet” when the news would not travel at the speed of light PAF did flight test and considered buying Chinese F-8, Panavia Tornado and Mirage F-1. These were the words which came out of ACM’s of PAF in the past 15 years but nothing happened. Therefore, the J-10 came out of ACM of PAF is no guran-dog-tee that PAF will buy these fighters. Early this year a team three PAF pilots which included an AC tested J-10 were impressed by the product but said it is a long way before J-10 reaches the technological standards of 4-generation fighter.
Cobra along with UAV are used extensively in the WANA area. In the early 2002, the US “loaned” 12 Cobras to patrol NWFP area along with Afghan border. This request for “Loan” was expedited because Pakistan had refused to use its own Cobras in these areas because the army wanted have their own choppers along the Indian boarder because of thread of war being imposed on Pakistan by India.
Steve,
You right about the 20 Cobras and I have read on Pakdef via Usman that another 10 are being supplied as spares. Several witnesses have seen the movement of two RC-12 around Peshawar base. One is dark green color another one is gray. Those who have flown into Peshawar airport, which along the air force base have made conflicting observations is to which if these two RC-12 have Pakistani insignia or unmarked.
Jealous kids on the block…………….End to all the kiddy stuff here..have a great week end………

All this is stolen from Pakdef. Check web site of Pakdef http://www.pakdef.info/pakmilitary/navy/index.html
AFAIK, they are no “rich” kids on Pakdef. I will stand along Pakdef because of news and material. Yes, even RCN has taken 100 pages from Pakdef. to be part of their naval officers cource.
Pakdef isn’t a source. Its bunch of retired rich folks with nothing else to do but tour pakistani military facilities and then brag about them on their forums.
They say that all news are true:
Paf getting gripens,
Paf buying belgian f16s
paf buying rafalesWhich idiot would believe that? I went there to ask them if they could post SCREEN SHOTs of the news actually published over at forecast intl but i got hostile replies and was banned for disagreeing with the admins.
We must confirm such reports as defence communities want something solid and confirmed report to debate on. These wishful thinking so called “news reports” acredited to national defence news sources is wrong thing to do and DT believes pakdef should apologize to pakistani defence community and defence communities in general for publishing such baseless and inaccurate reports which they did not confirm themselves.
The idiot who is posting is resposible for stealing copyright material………….
Please use a spell checker.
The fact is that a Pakistani newspaper quoted a prestigious American Market intelligence firm on a false basis and has been busted.
This has nothing to do with India and Mirage-2000.
I had asked flamers to stay away, so please post on topic or not at all.
If you have evidence that Forecast International has published such a report linking Rafale to PAF, please let me know. I’ll arrange for a conference call with yourself, myself and FI’s lead analyst/editor and we can sort it out. I’m just posting the facts and if that hurts, too bad.
Please stop flaming or let the moderators do their work.
I have just called your F I and they told me that they are “..not in the business of verifying news….” I got the number from same phone number that you posted. Rest, source of Pakdef or anybody else is good as anybody. If you can take news from any tom, **** & harry with a “Link” and say that this is the news of all the truth but anothing but the truth than god help you.
Defencetalk is basically a site which has stollen material from alot of other sites including Pakdef. They have been repeatly told by people to remove but alas…..
If you like to establish a “truth” balance than verify each and every news that is posted on this forum………..be just across the spectrum but not just be selective.
try using yourself a spell checker Thanks for the claritication on DT
What is happening is typical attitude of people who can’t disgest any news pretaining to Pakistan. Look, anytime J-10 is talked about for Pakistan it is believable even by Indians but if there is news about a “western” fighter for Pakistan everybody get their pants on fire just because the word “Pakistan” has shown up.
The issue of money is always attached to Pakistan just because some people think that to buy any aircraft a country has to pay in cash. Wrong to the core of financial dealings! Pakistan is able to offord any fighter which is in the market (minus F-22), again I am talking about “offord” not that who is selling what.
OTOH, we have been hearing since January of 2000 that India is about to buy 125 M2K but to this day nothing has happened….nothing. To keep everbody appraised, according to Flight Int. India is going to splite the order to replace Mig21 for 125 aircrafts between mig29 & M2K.
I don’t think PAF will have J-10 in its inventory. At the year 2010 the inventory of stand as follows:
1- F-16
2- JF-17
3- A fourth generation western aircraft
4- 50-60 F-7PG
5- 40-50 Mirage ROSE III
What is this than?

VAJPAYEE KEPT INDIAN NATION IN DARK ON NUKE DELIVERY SYSTEM, WHY?
DRB
Date : SEP 01, 2004
New Delhi – The outgoing Chief of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), VK Aatre, confirmed on Tuesday in the Press Conference that six years after India entered the nuclear club with Pokhran-II, it is still not ready with its missile-based nuclear delivery systems.
Not only this, he admitted at a press conference that India is still a long way from acquiring credible nuclear deterrence. As regards Agni-II Intermediate-range ballistic missile, he said that it was just to train the Army Officers and technical staff how to handle and fire such missiles since they never were trained before.
The shocking aspect of the Agni II, on which our previous government under the leadership of Mr. Vajpayee and the defence Ministry under Defence Minister George Fernandez and on which President of India has also unfortunately expressed great satisfaction on the progress of missiles on many occasions, have, in fact, kept the entire nation in dark since the missiles never were operational. However, the Indian leadership has been boasting like a paper tiger that they can smash their enemies and they shall wipe out from the world map. What a joke!
If such a situation had arisen to make use of this technology in previous years of tension and hotbed, India would have miserably failed, since the Indian Army had never known how to handle Agni II and how to operate it?
Every political leader has been talking tall without knowing how much damage they were intentionally and willfully causing to the nation by giving such false assurances. All are responsible right from His Excellency President of India to Former Prime Minister, Former Deputy Prime Minister, Defence Minister and the leader of the Opposition. In fact all were misleading the nation and in case of an attack if God forbid launched recently, India would have been decimated. Can you excuse these leaders?
So much so even the launch of July 4 for Agni A1 had the same purpose to train the Army how to handle and operate it and once this process starts, it takes minimum 6 months for the Army men to set his hand on.
Pakistan and China are practically much advanced, and India is far behind. Even the present government and their leaders who formed the part of the previous Opposition Party cannot escape from this national responsibility.
If the nation takes it seriously, I don’t think, it should forgive these leaders, whether of NDA or present Government, this act is abominable and cannot be forgotten so easily. MIL
Yes, google serach is the only mode to do a relible serach for PA
Any links to back up the above? Given Pakistans extreme financial distress till Sept 11 and the “economic resurgence” thereafter, it seems unlikely that the PA could afford any high tech gizmo’s.
Of course, now, things may perhaps change for the better.
